Just a few days back, I had shared a few posts about our Family trip plan.
After deliberations, we zeroed in on Nainital in Uttarakhand (North Indian Himalayan state) as the destination to visit.
Time : Mid March when it would be not too cold in those hills (Approx 2000 M above mean sea level) and probably a sunny though cold weather (manageable with one sweater or Jacket).
The tickets booked for both train and Hotel and leave plans finalized.
On the Journey date in Mid March, we jad an early morning train to catch.
So the sleep was highly disturbed the previous night.
It was some sight to start when the world was asleep.
Yet as we reached our station - New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS), there was big traffic !
As if that area never sleeps !
We caught the train on time.
After approximately 1 hour, sun came out.
We had some nice countryside view.
The food served on board was also of good quality.
I am sharing a picture I covered near Haldwani (Uttarakhand, Northern India Himalayan foothills)when the hills came into the sight.
Keep watching this space ......

I'm glad you made the train station on time and the meal was good on the train.

It was a nice change for my kids all the more since they have been having a monotonous routine since a long time.

No, we went by Train (Delhi-Kathgodam Shatabdi)from New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS)from New Delhi to Kathgodam (Then by Taxi to Nanital).
Haldwani is the second last station on that route.

That's ok. Have you been to Nainital or surroundings in the recent times?

Yes this was a partly open and uninhabited area in the foothills of Himalayas.
This was the part of stretch where the hills were visible.
I would have liked to capture more pictures enroute but couldn't as I was relaxing a bit!
Thanks - yes it was enjoyable though there were some adverse factors which came into play.
I would share in the coming posts.

No not very serious. It just turned to be cloudy and raining rather than the slightly cold and sunny we were expecting there.

Plus it was raining in the hills, so well it kind of limited us in some ways.

I think in US, folks prefer road travel over trains.

Are there any railway lines that people like traveling in US.
In a novel by Amor Towles, a lot of story is on a train linking Mid West to NY City.
Yet that novel is set in 1950s and 60s.

I love the backdrop of the hills there and the hue of blue on the light of the photo.
And you had a lovely time.

We were checking when the hills would come in view since we were traveling from the plains.
I like the Transition though I think my family members are not into such a thinking!!

That looks very pretty. My hubby and I moved to where we are now partly due to there being a train about a mile from our house. We've been on the train once and plan to go for another trip down the coast within a couple of years.

The views one gets during the train journeys can be amazing and worth remembering!
One cannot experience that in the flights.

If one goes to a railway station or an Airport, life seems to be on 24 hours, at least for the ones in the big cities.
Smaller cities stations though can be empty even during the day times.
