It’s 3.30am and very unusual for me to be up at this time but I can’t sleep so thought I’d post something then go on with processing the 200+ photos I took at the endurance ride yesterday. Vince has already started on his. I’ll put up some photos of the horses later but for now here is one of moss growing on the top of a fence-post. Don’t you think it is kind of cute-looking?

It is very rustic looking. I bought some Christmas carolers who were made from fence posts years ago. They attached wooden arms and stood them on a wooden base. They held a wooden song book in their hands and had a cute painted face. I got alot of compliments on them.

Your carollers sound very cute. There was an old stockyard there and all the rails had a lot of moss on them.

@shaggin Thanks. That's really kind and means a lot. Things are starting to work out better now. We looked like being stuck in Ireland with no transport. Vince is too old for a hire car and our son had let his visa lapse which meant he had no licence either. But we're starting to get things sorted now.

Something has come up. I might share it a bit later. It's a bit raw at the moment.

Well, it is to me simply because it's unlikely we'll ever have moss anywhere around here.

Yes. Even when it rains off and on for several days it usually will still get dried out here. I have seen mushrooms in those rare years when we get more than the usual rain fall in June but it's been decades since I've seen one.

I get insomnia sometimes and try to stay in bed. I find that listening to an audio book does the trick for me. Once the lights go on, I find it hard to drop off again!

That's a good idea. I try not to wake Vince but I'm pretty good at sliding out without waking him. My brother was blind and would listen to audio books through the day sometimes. But he gave up because he would always fall asleep then have no end of trouble trying to get back to where he left off.

@CarolDM There is often a lot of standing around waiting for the horses to arrive but if you go fossicking in the bush nearby, you see all sorts of things.

Nature is enchanting even those that look to be mundane at first glance. You both seem to be workaholics even forgoing sleep (or trying to sleep) to engage in those that are time-consuming. Not forgetting the trip around the corner.
