Venturing out

This part of my state has more going on than the part that I lived in last year. It also has tons more traffic. That part is not fun for me. The other day I found out that there is a tour group for seniors in my area. I would drive about fifteen minutes, park my car in a big lot and get on a big tour bus with others. I've not done this very much. Maybe not everyone on the bus will be there with folks they know? Maybe others will be looking to make friends? The tours are not super cheap but the destinations appeal to me. One destination is a hot springs with lunch. I am strongly thinking about going- I'd go without my hubby. The hot springs are located on what is called the Olympic Peninsula. That's toward the Pacific Ocean. It's a lushly wet area with tons of tall moss covered trees. Having someone else drive me there is quite attractive- it must take at least 2 hours each way to the Hot Springs. Soaking in steaming hot water while being outdoors sounds like a real kick. I'm still deciding and thinking also about their other tours. Freedom!

That does sound amazing. I would love to visit a place like that but wouldn’t want to drive in the traffic either. I think you should treat yourself and do it

@shaggin Thanks. I live in a lovely area but South of me is huge Portland, Oregon. I am not fond of that traffic situation. South of me about an hour away is big Tacoma and then gigantic Seattle. Nope. Not doing those- BUT if a tour driver wants to take me to one of their attractions, I might go.

@shaggin Yup. That's why I only go if others are driving or maybe by train. I wish public transportation like the train would allow dogs on them. I'd love to take Rufus.

I've always wanted to go to the hot springs in NM, it's about 200 miles from here so I keep putting it off ..... the worst part is I don't know anyone who'd want to go with me.

That's a pretty long ways too. It's the traveling alone part that makes it hard.

@rebelann Agreed. Years ago I challenged myself. I went over the mountains with Sally dog and visited a friend. I got in a little walking with Sally by a pretty lake but it felt lonesome and strange to be without another human.

@rebelann That is a long ways to travel by your lonesome. The Hot Springs that I am thinking about going to must be around 75 miles away or more.

That sounds perfect for you. I like the idea of someone else driving. They have tours for seniors here to; but we've never taken any. I hope you sign up!

@Adie04 Agreed. Its a huge semi wild area with few big cities and its near the Pacific ocean. There is a mountain range in one part of it.

That sounds great. My parents especially my mother used to like to go on those kind of tours. She probably still would, but is not that mobile currently.
