I am still checking it out if this is a legit one. It seems that it is because it was published by the vogue.ph. The sad part is that the copies are sold out. I want to have a copy of it because she is the last 'mambabatok' or tattoo maker using cactus thorns in Kalinga, Philippines. I was not able to see her up close despite working in this area before. The locals call her Apo Whang-od aged 106. Would you like to have some tribal tattoos on your skin?

@LadyDuck When I was in university, I was planning to have one with my classmates. Luckily, I did not when seeing the bad outcome from my friends at that time.

@Icydoll I know that it is painful and I know that tattoos can bring all sort of diseases.

I am sure you wouldn't. I do not like to have them on my skin. I would accept using Henna.

Me too. I'm not for any permanent marking on my skin. But I'd be happy to try temporary henna tattoo just for the fun.

Oh that’s neat she does that. I have heard of it. I am not a fan of all those tattoos but I do like tattoos and these look good on her I just wouldn’t want to be covered like that.

@Shavkat I wonder if it would hurt more than modern day tattoos.

If I am not mistaken, women with tattoos in her area having a higher rank in their tribes. It is a status symbol that makes these tattoos special. I heard that she is transferring her soft skills in making them to the young ones now. I cannot imagine to have a tattoo using a thorn from a cactus.

She was recently on the Bing news feed. I do not like tattoos for myself but I have to admit it is fascinating to see these works.

I have friends who have tattoos as well but now that they're old they regret they got them because with age skin tends to sag and now their tattoos are misshapen and ugly.

Since it is their tribal culture, I respect them for this matter. I never dared to have a tattoo. Two of my cousins went to see her before and have some tattoos on their skin.

I love her! absolutely gorgeous! a legend... If I ever get a chance to travel up north and she's still around, I would get a tattoo designed by her... just a very tiny one.. because I'm not really fond of tattoos..

No, I've never been interested in getting a tattoo. I like my piercings, though. If you like tattoos and want one, I see no reason you shouldn't get one if you want it. (Pretty got a tattoo of a black dahlia on top of her right foot while she was in college. Whoever did the tattoo was quite good.)

If my mother was not against it during my university days, I would have one on my skin. The good thing is I did not have. One of my brothers has it and my mom was so furiius about it before.

@Shavkat I see... When kids become adults, their parents should step aside and let them experience life, in my opinion. Pretty wanted a tattoo. While she lived at home, I told her no. When she became an adult and moved into the dorms at college, it wasn't my business what she did anymore unless she asked my advice.

That's a lot of body art!!! Looks like the only area not tattooed is her face area. I don't know what is more amazing, the tattoos or her age. Both are impressive!

For our generation, we don't have it anymore. But my dad and uncles (his siblings) still has it.
