Off to Connemara today, back tomorrow

It’s been a bit of an up-and-down holiday so far. Firstly, Vince took ill and now our son is having to move house. Our son’s rental house has had a strong kerosene smell which they haven’t been able to get rid of.
The experts say there has been a spill or a leak somewhere, not necessarily at their house. A big extraction fan running several hours a day hasn’t helped and now they’re getting headaches and sore eyes so, on Friday, they’re moving to a new rental. That’s nearly enough stress without wanting to spend time with parents who have come from overseas.
We are helping where we can but the wife has anxiety/germophobic/caeliac issues so sometimes it’s best we sit quietly in the background.
I’m not complaining as we are seeing a lot of them really and once our great nephew leaves on Thursday, we can spend a night with them from time to time and they can spend a night with us. Each house only has four beds so, once our relative arrived, we couldn’t do this.
The photo is of a sign we saw in a shop window. Ballina is, apparently, the salmon-fishing centre of Ireland. And I'll be away two days. Behave yourselves and take care.

That is so awful! It can really make them sick..I sure hope someone can get it fixed quickly. Is Vince feeling any better?

@YrNemo Thanks. That's a kind thing to say. However I don't think we will get to Ireland again. Vince hasn't been very well this trip and being so far from home is a bit worrying. And quite soon, we won't be able to get health insurance either.

I hope everything goes well for your son and family as they move.
I heard that there is a new ban on salmon fishing, apparently humans have over fished them and now they are endangered and it's affected the other sea creatures that depend on them for their lives.

I hadn't heard about the ban. There are salmon farms here and it's on every menu.
