And Now We Wait

My sister-in-law had her pulmoscopy today. I must say, the hospital was really on the ball. They came to get her about 45 minutes before her scheduled procedure time. They told us it’d take an hour. Well, “an hour” after her “scheduled” start time I was on my way home because she was done and back in the room!
And now…we wait.
As Tom Petty said, “the waiting is the hardest part.”
According to my sis-in-law they cleaned goop out of her lungs during the procedure, which should hopefully help her recover from pneumonia. They also, thank God, did NOT see any traces of cancer.
There are a boatload of pulmonary issues she could have, but the worst one has been eliminated.
It was good to see my brother today (I talk to him every day but I don’t see him much).
Hopefully they’ll have a plan of action laid out for my sis-in-law tomorrow and we’ll go from there.
This is a floral arrangement she got. Isn’t it so cute!!!!
Here’s Petty’s classic “The Waiting”:

Praying for a good report for your sis in law. Thankful no cancer was found. Glad you were able to see your brother today.
My grandma and Dad both suffered from COPD because of their smoking habit. They had a lot of issues with their lungs as they got older.

Thanks for your prayers. My mom had COPD, too. Thankfully, she quit smoking and it bought her a few years of relative health.

Thanks so much.
I just hope they let her know what they found and devise a plan of action.

They know how much she loves dogs, so it’s the perfect arrangement for her.

I'm glad the procedure went well and that there was no evidence of cancer. Keep us posted. I will be thinking about her.

The doctor still hasn’t been in this morning.
I know they’re bouncing off the walls from waiting to hear.

Thank you.
She’ll have respiratory therapy when they get the pneumonia cleared and her heart rate back to normal. (The latter is from anxiety disorder.)

It is always good when things go smoothly for hospitalizations. I am glad they ruled out the one, and that they are looking to clear up anything else.

Love that floral bear.
Good to know that your sis-in-law doesn't have lung cancer.

You’d think “she never smoked” would rid her of the threat, but my brother did (just recently quit), and the dangers of second-hand smoke are real.

Thank you.
They sedated her instead of knocking her out, because she was bright and bubbly when she got back in the room.

@FourWalls I couldn't imagine being just sedated and knowing what was going on. I would so jump up and start running.

Indeed. A family member who’s sick is an emotionally taxing event for everyone who loves that family member.

It must have been nice to spend time with your brother today, even if you speak to him regularly. Family support can be invaluable during times like these, and being there for each other can provide comfort and strength.

Her sisters have been there every time I’ve been to the hospital, so she has plenty of support. And you’re right, it’s very important.
