My little spot at the endurance ride

My husband and I take photos at horse endurance rides. Obviously, it’s best if we are in slightly different locations. There’s not much point in us being next to each taking the same sorts of photos.
The photo shows my little ‘spot’ at the ride on the weekend. There were orchards either side of the dirt road. I’ve taken off my coat. Sometimes, depending on how far apart we are, I might have a backpack, with a bottle of water, spare camera battery and maybe even a book if I expect to be sitting for ages with no horses.
Yesterday, I got in a few steps walking up and down the road. Vince was a couple of hundred metres further ahead and in a bush area near a checkpoint.
This would make a good ‘leading lines’ photo for one of Vince’s FB challenges.

With no trees around you need to protect yourself from the sun

I hope you've got an umbrella or a hat. It looks like it will get too warm too quickly in an open area like that. I would definitely take my phone so I could read my book(s) while I wait for riders to get close.

@JudyEv Oh, good! I was afraid someone had assigned you to that spot and you didn't have a choice.

@DaddyEvil No, nothing is structured at all. We make sure to keep out of the way of the riders but they are used to us now and we're very much 'accepted' as part of the furniture.

@TheHorse I would just take photos as they approached and as they went past.
At the checkpoint, they have to give their number to the checkpoint person who rings the numbers through to base so that everyone gets accounted for. There is hay, carrots and water for the horses and lollies/sweets and water for the riders if they want it. They can also sponge down their horses if they want to.

Beautiful blue sky. It's good that you had a hat.

Do you know what variety of fruit those trees offer up? I guess they were done for the season now, so no free snacking for you.

We took around 500 between us. I think we get a bit carried away sometimes.
