Spring and Springtime Reflections

Why do I like Spring? So many reasons among them warmer weather (eventually), more daylight hours, flowers blooming, birds arriving, and no bulky coats. Of course, it's not all "rosy." I do dislike the ants, bugs, mosquitoes and other insects which arrive. And putting away all those winter clothes and dealing with spring cleaning is no fun. But for me, all in all it beats winter. So, now it's your turn. What do you like or dislike about Spring? While you're thinking, now that the unofficial start to summer has arrived with Memorial Day, I thought I would say goodbye to spring with some fun facts. See if you know any of them! DID YOU KNOW: *Tulips are one of the first flowers to bloom during this season. *Kids grow faster in Spring than any other season. *April showers brings May flowers comes from a poem written in the 1500's. *Tornados are more common in Spring as are thunderstorms. *Baby birds are born able to sing, but are silent, until they hear other birds sing. *Germany was the first country to implement daylight saving time. And one last fun fact... Easter Bunnies. So, as Bugs Bunny would say, "That's All Folks!" Source Info- madewithhappy.com Photo- Readers Digest

I love everything about spring. Our city gets covered with these pink blooms ladden trees on the sides of the street. I had shared few pictures here too. I hate that in our country, spring is for very short duration. Hardly four to five weeks

In my part of the U.S. Spring seems to quickly turn into summer heat once it finally does arrive. Other reasons to like Spring: -Outdoor dining -Outdoor workouts Another fun Spring fact: -Before it was called Spring, in Old English it was called "Lent." By the 14th Century it was called "springing time," for the plants and flowers which sprang up from the ground. Eventually it was shortened to "springtime" and finally just "spring."

@dgobucks226 Here too spring quickly turns into summer. Well, we don't get extreme temperatures here. So, on most of the days throughout the year, we enjoy outdoor activities. That's an interesting fact about spring. We get to learn so much from each other here on myLot

You will be amazed at me..although I am totally femme, I am not interested in the flowery crap of spring. I am more of a Fall person. But that aside, for spring, I like to find turtles in the road and go fishing.

I see. So, you can take it or "leaf" it when it comes to flowers. Fishing is a fun Spring thing to do! I'm sure your not the only one who "Fall head over heals" for Autumn. Another fun fact: -Carnations are the official flower of Mother's Day.

I did know about the tulips I didn't know kids grew more in spring, then again did you know that most ancient humans more or less hibernated in winter? Since I live in the desert I don't get to see many showers but the wild flowers here do begin to bloom starting in late April. Yes, I was aware of the spring time tornadoes, kinda like hurricanes don't usually hit until around June, at least that's what I've heard. About babies in general, many are born in spring. BOOOOO Germany, they need to rethink the whole daylight savings BS. But will anyone listen??

My neighbor has a tulip garden so when those bloom I know winter weather is done here. Hibernation makes sense. I do it often during winter myself, lol. How about those Germans, I thought the Swiss were the clock tinkerers Another spring fact: -Arizona and Hawaii are the only two states that do not observe Daylight Saving Time. They have enough sunlight and heat. Do you have a favorite season? I can rule out summer, right...

I knew about AZ but not Hawaii. I wonder if all it takes is petitions to governors to reverse that stupid dst. I don't know if we get any real seasons here. I can't recall an actual winter since 1969 and when it gets cold here it's usually only about 42f for a few days or maybe a couple weeks in January. By late February the days are becoming much warmer like around 50f. The nights here become pretty frigid for about 3 months but I'm not usually up and around at night so that doesn't really bother me that much.

@rebelann Yes, Hawaii is not one which comes to mind to me either. Sounds like you have fairly temperate weather except for your evenings. Hope you have a good working furnace and bundles of blankets.

Ha, ha. Yes, true. I hate switching the clocks too. Another fun fact: -Before it was called Spring, in Old English it was called "Lent." By the 14th Century it was called "springing time," for the plants and flowers which sprang up from the ground. Eventually it was shortened to "springtime" and finally just "spring."

Interesting facts. I LOVE that the days are longer, that everything starts blooming and that I don't have to put on a coat to go outside. Have a good weekend.

@dgobucks226 I like fall too. Crisp, cool temperatures, fall leaves. The only things I hate are the shorter days AND the fact that winter is coming.

Love those black swallowtails. I can't wait for them to arrive here in a few weeks. Cool spring trivia, some I did not know. No idea about Germany. Thanks for the insight and the stunning butterfly.

I enjoy seeing the different kinds of butterflies which arrive during the course of spring and summer. Enjoy the extra daylight. Hate the changing of the clocks. Other reasons to like Spring: -Outdoor dining -Outdoor workouts -The beginning of the Wedding Season Another fun fact about spring: “Spring fever” may be a real (and good) thing! Scientists believe that longer days cause people to be more active, creative, and happy.

@dgobucks226 I do as well. I hope to see new ones this year. The swallowtails are a favorite and the monarch of course. I can agree with the scientists about spring fever.

I am definitely aware of the tornado factoid. So Germany is the country everyone should be angry with when they complain about daylight savings time? Good to know!

Ha, ha.. Yes, just like the flowers, kids seem to "spring up" that time of year. Another fun fact: -In Japan, they believe spring begins once their national flower the Cherry Blossom blooms. I think they might be on to something. My cherry tree seemed to bloom in conjunction with Spring.
