I have learned . . .

I have learned that I can do a Legacy reboot on my desktop
when I find the thumb drive that came with it.
For quite a while I had it taped to the computer tower, and I will examine that more closely tomorrow.
I did not throw it away, but a cat could have found it to play hockey with.
Or it could be in one of many "safe places" around my desk. I will look tomorrow. I just figured this out this evening.
I understand it is not uncommon to put things away so that they will not get lost and to end up not able to find them. I hope that is not the case for me.

EDIT I found it easily but it was not what I thought it was. It was a way to connect to the wifi.
That does not solve my problem

@DaddyEvil I will have to look into that. For now, just to make life bearable I have plugged the mouse and keyboard into the laptop. Takes care of its jumping around so much. The jumping is likely aggravated because I have a tremor.

@GardenGerty I had to turn the sensitivity down on my built-in mouse pad on my laptop. I tend to rest the heel of my palm on it while I'm typing and every movement to type resulted in my screen changing sizes. After I adjusted the sensitivity, that has stopped.
Plugging in a mouse stops that problem, too. You're over-riding the laptop's programming by doing that.

It ACTUALLY was close at hand, but was not for that purpose.

I hope you find it. I have put something down when I'm thinking about something else. Not a good move.

My sister and I called that "automatic hands". They just go about their business without ever connecting with the brain.

The way I understand it, it is a reboot from a copy of the original files.

Legacy just means it is a copy of an old disk as I understand.

I had actually put it into a file box with my passwords on file cards.

@GardenGerty I am glad you found it. I also have all my passwords noted in a notebook that I keep in our safe. Should I forget I can check... hoping to remember the combination of the safe.
