Not one day

I do not believe we have had one day without storms or threats of rain this last week. If we did it was yesterday when I was gone and then came home and napped. I mowed the front yard this morning. If it is wet tomorrow I may just go pull some large weeds. I have to admit the drop in temperature and the lifting breeze feel good, though. We do not have covered porches so while my daughter was here we put our pop up shade canopy up. We can go out and sit and not get rained on, unless it is a bad storm. I think we usually get this weather in May and it is late this year.

I can't believe our states are so close, yet our weather is so different. It is only 83 degrees, and it is so humid it feels like 95 degrees. I told Diana this afternoon it was already too sticky outside for me, and she said hang on honey, we've still got three more months to go! It's good that you finally got the lawn mowed though. Diana is healed enough from her hip replacement surgery to mow (she LIKES mowing, so since my dad has allergies, she took over the job), but she can't pull weeds yet, and it's driving her nuts because her lilies are in bloom, but she says the Johnson grass is messing up the view.

In Kansas Johnson grass is considered a noxious weed. I have a little and I have a plan to get rid of it. It must have blown in from somewhere. When I moved seven years ago we went East about an hour and that made a difference in our weather as well. We are now just in the outskirts of an area called the Flint Hills.

@GardenGerty I’m not sure what her plan is. My dad has been mowing in place of her, but we told him to forget about the weeds. He wants to do it before she decides to do it herself, but I told both of them it wasn’t worth permanent injury, especially with it involves a neck. This is probably a stupid question, but as you may have guessed, I know nothing about gardening. Are there literally hundreds of different kinds of weeds?

Yesterday was dry here but windy and unusually cool. We usually have temps in the 80sF/24C range in early June. Yesterday it never got above 70F/19C.

I think we finally got past our cool spell, but thank goodness we have not peaked like we did last year. We have only been up to 90+ one day and that was in May.

Rainy season has finally arrived in my country and in the city I live in, I that been raining almost everyday since last week. I would see the sun rise in the morning but come midday it would shy away, start to get gloomy and then it would pour in the afternoon or in the evening. Typical rainy season.

We do a bit opposite. Wake up to rain, then sun for a while in the afternoon. It is hot and steamy, as I imagine it is for you as well.

We have not had any real heavy rain, but just a bit every day. Some days are windy and rough, though.

We are well and truly into winter here now and have already had a record day for rain. Luckily we were out of town and didn't get as much where we were.

You do not get snow there for your winter, though, do you? We did not get much this year.

@GardenGerty No, no snow. Maybe a tiny bit on our only 'mountain' in the south.

Oh my gosh,, I wish this part of Michigan could get all kinds of storms and rain! We are badly in need of some heavy showers, with two forest fires raging in this part of the state!

We did not have the usual rise in the Cottonwood River outside of town. It has not been enough spring rain.

I do not mind the rain too much, but it does make me get behind on some things.

We had the same kind of weather during the past 3 weeks. Today it seems better, but it's only morning. Wait and see.

@GardenGerty We had a terrible thunderstorm yesterday, it started around dinner time and went on all the night long. We had hail for a while, but small stuff.

Today is the third day it has looked like it might rain/storm this week. We had sprinkles on Saturday off and on but that only left puddles at the end of the drive. The grass dried off right away. It was 88F here when I woke up at 4:30 pm but has dropped to 80F by 6 pm... We have a nice breeze blowing, too.

@GardenGerty We got some heavy rain last night and two big KABOOMS. The thunder shook the house.
