Violence and death are all around now.

I feel fairly safe unless it is at night. At night, I try not to be out at all.

I feel safe where Pretty and I live... We go out at night all the time. I don't feel that Pretty is safe out by herself when she goes jogging but she carries pepper spray and her phone so she can call for help if she needs it. (She's an adult and doesn't ask my permission to go out whenever she wants.)

You are spot on in saying no neighborhood is really safe anymore. They aren't. I, too, live in what is termed a nice neighborhood. No one has been shot or killed here (thank goodness!) but there have been times when we hear gunshots and they aren't far away. I have always been one of those people who lock the doors, no matter what time of day or night. I've always locked my car, but I do park it here at home in a locked garage, so I feel it's fairly safe there. Yesterday, there was a robbery at one of our local stores, and also an armed bank robbery not far away--no one caught yet. Things are sadly happening in smaller towns, villages, and even rural areas. All we can do is try. Do I feel safe? I do know how hard I try to be safe, but there are so many instances that make it impossible.

I'm always cautious as there are too many crazy things going on in my city.
