Millie is one of three dogs that we’re minding while the owners have a short holiday. She is a sweet little thing but very timid. It doesn’t take much to upset her.
Micky appeared in another photo and I’ll put one up of the mother, Titch, sometime soon. At the end of the day, they all have nice rugs to go to bed in as the nights are cold here. Micky and Millie are siblings.
They’ve had a good time today and have been out in the sun most of the day. They were very keen to help us get the chickens into the correct pens so we had to bring them back to the house as they were upsetting the chickens.

I wonder if the owners let them "help" put the chickens to roost when they're home?

@DaddyEvil I don't really want to leave a note to that effect.

She does look timid and lovable.
. Well, they wanted to help you with chicken. Had no intention to upset them. Do they help owners regularly with the chicken?

@JudyEv Oh! I see. That's why maybe the chicken were not comfortable and got upset. They might not be used to the dogs.

I love this dog. It looks like common dogs here. It's nice to know they have rugs as bed at night

We leave the three of them behind now. It's much easier without their 'help'.

@Fleura We only had five instead of six one night and they don't get let out at all! I thought one must have sneaked out while we went in with feed and a fox had got it. But next night, there were only 4. Their little shed is very dark and, because they've not been let out (I guess), four had started bullying the other two and the two were jammed in a corner behind a nesting box. The one that had been missing 24 hours had a bloodied backside and legs so we 'crutched' him and powdered him with antiseptic. Luckily there is a spare pen and he is doing very nicely in there on his own. Since then, I've been pulling grass for them each day so they have something to do.

It was a bit of a nightmare the first two nights are there was 9 (+1 tiny bantam) in one pen; six silkie cockerels in another and 9 booted chickens in another but one-was-sitting-on-her-eggs-so-you-only-really-had-to-count-to-8. One of said 8 was in love with one of the first nine and had to be more or less forcibly removed to his correct pen. Then, over at the other shed, there were 4 young guinea fowl, 1 slightly bigger and 3 Isa Brown pullets in one loose-box. The pullets are hard to pick from the 20-30 adult Isa Browns which are in a yard and loose-box next door. But we have it down to a fine art now - more or less.
