RSV (respiratory synctial virus) can cause coughing, runny nose and fever. In older adults (65 and older), especially those with chronic heart or lung conditions or a compromised immune system, it can require hospitalization if they have trouble breathing or become dehydrated. Between 60,000 and 160,000 older adults in the US are hospitalized every year due to RSV; and 6,000 to 10,000 die. The vaccine has already been approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration. CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky must give her approval for the vaccine to be fully recommended. If a full recommendation is not received, adults 60 and older may receive the vaccine after consulting with a doctor on an individual needs basis. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I don't trust the CDC, they recommended the Covid vaccine and now they've found that many people who got them have long term conditions that it has caused. No thanks, I'm not falling for any of their recommendations.

EXACTLY And Covid vaccine only protected during a few weeks. In fact all those I know who wre vaccinated also got Covid, including my niece and her baby girl. The doctors obliged her to have the vaccine because she was pregnant. Her new born baby has several health issues that the first baby had not.

I'd probably have to think long and hard about getting it, but if I had a lot of problems with my heart and lungs I'd be tempted.

I don't think I will be getting this vaccine. But I may change my mind later on. I hope it does really work effectively.

@LindaOHio — they keep hyping that shingles vaccine, and I keep telling them I never had chicken pox so it’s pointless to get the vaccine.

@FourWalls Did you know that you can get chicken pox from someone who has shingles? I learned that when I had shingles. So bad. We got the vaccine. Don't want to get shingles again.

I suffered from RSV last November right around Thanksgiving, and it was almost as bad as when I got Covid. I would definitely be interested in getting the vaccine, but right now I'm very hesitant about running out and getting any vaccines before they become tried and true and deemed safe. I made the mistake of running out and getting the Covid vaccine and now we are seeing report after report of those vaccines not exactly being the safest things for our bodies (and I still got Covid again even after getting the vaccine, so a lot of good that shot did).

@LindaOHio I guess my body decided it was going to try out every new and deadly virus that comes our way! Lol

I don't know what to think about the vaccine, but interesting to know... I don't think I have gotten any vaccines as an adult.

I may talk to my doctor because I work in the schools and am widely exposed to everything. I have heard there is a third pneumonia vaccine as well.

I agree as someone that has actually watched a baby fight off RSV it is not only deadly to the elder but also to extremely young. It does lower the risk of you getting and boosts the immune system. We as humans do get RSV throughout our lives but in people over the age of 5 and below the age of 60 it presents as a normal cold and we wouldn't know we have RSV and, in some case, you can be a carrier and not know it. Just because throughout our life spans we might have encounter it more than one as we get older are system weakness just like we are new to the world we don't have a build immune system and nearly everything is seen as a threat.

I think that these blanket approvals are much less effective than a person's own doctor, who knows their history and other health ailments, to be a much more effective approval. If a governing body tells me that something is approved and advised, it means very little to me personally. Yes, there are many vaccines out there to help people of all age groups against various illnesses, but not every vaccine is necessary or even a healthy option for some.

That's something good that the doctor has done. At the number of deaths due to RSV will decrease.

Good to know this but I will pass on vaccines and I also do not trust the government. Their track record is not so good.
