A few more of our charges at our house-sit

The collage shows some of the other animals at our house-sit. Upper left is one of three llamas, two blacks and a brown. I think this one has been having a roll in the hay. Upper right is one of the Jersey cows. The owner usually has several cows in milk and sells milk to local residents. Trixie, the old horse, shares her paddock with several young steers. We just have to keep an eye on the alpacas and cattle. Lower left is another of the very pretty little bantams. She is still in her pyjamas I think or else maybe she just has boots on. Lower right is Millie (on the left) and Titch enjoying the sun on the front verandah.

The iiamas is really cute. I got to hug some when I went to a farm with the vet. They feel so soft.

Alpaca wool is expensive to buy. As you say, it's very soft - and very warm too.

@DaddyEvil I place his carrot at his doorway and go on with something else. When I turn around, the carrot is nowhere to be seen.

The bantam is very pretty and quite quiet. It comes right up to you but doesn't want to be touched.

Because the cows are milked regularly they are quite quiet and very curious about us.

@shaggin They put their calves back on them while they're away. I guess they might start milking them again once they come home.

They're all posing for your camera. There's a lot for you to tend to. I'm glad you're doing well, I have never seen llamas in real life. They look nice.

That is certainly a pretty bantam. I love the coloring. So, you don't have to milk the cows, right? I rather envy you getting to be up close to the farm animals.

No, we don't have to milk the cows which is a good thing. There is enough to do really without that.

@JudyEv I imagine there is plenty to do. When a person keeps animals and has any acreage at all, there is always work to do.

Jersey cow, produce the best milk in fat and protein content higher than frisian Holstein. But in quantity, jersey produce smaller quantity than frisian Holstein. I am working in dairy manufacturing and we have own dairy farm which have 15thousand cows, jersey and frisian Holstein.

Wow, that's a lot of cows. Back in the 1930s and 40s, my parents had a dairy farm but they milked by hand. Most dairy mobs here are Friesians with a few Jerseys to raise the butterfat ratio.

Llamas are often kept with a mob of sheep as they protect the sheep from foxes and dogs.
