It wasn´t properly a dinner.

Friends, I have been in bed almost all day. I have all the dishes washed and I only have a skillet soaking. I had taken out some very lean ground meat to make the delicious Lebanese kubbeh. But I hadn´t counted on the cold and the meat is still frozen. And I want to make them raw so the meat can´t be thawed in any warm or hot way. So I´ll eat kubbeh tomorrow (and might also do something with and eggplant that is in the fridge. And meanwhile today it was just cheese, toasts (with butter, tomato slices and green hot chile). And, of course, coffee which I brought it to my bedroom. I will have to change the gas cylinder in the heater. But that will be tomorrow. Today I heated the herb "water bottle" ( again I forgot the name in English). And I got into bed again.

If the meat is in a well-sealed plastic package, you can still set it to soak in room temperature water and that will thaw it in about half an hour.

Normally I do that. But for meat that I will eat raw, I do not want it to get warm in places.

@marguicha Oh, yeah, that might not be good. I don't eat any meat raw. I'm too afraid of germs.

I think the herb water bottle is probably what we call a heat bag. We had to buy a new one just yesterday as we left the old one at our last house sit. This one is filled with wheat.

I had one filled with rice for years. I loved it. Then I bought this one filled with aromatic herbs. I hate it. I don´t like just any smell.

@marguicha Those rice bags aren't hard to make. I've even made them out of old clothing cut to make the correct shape, put in the rice, and sewed it shut. They last for a long time.

I love Lebanese kibbeh, I hope you can make it tomorrow. I think that Judy is right with the name of the herb bottle, it's a "heat bag".

I called Rosa, the lady that is fixing some clothes for me, to make one for me to fill. I haven´t discovered them on the market. And this herbal one I bought is something that I can only accept because of the cold. The smell is awful. I DO NOT like things to smell except for French perfume which I use once in a while. Even soaps can´t have odors. I´ll fill it with rice.

@marguicha - I filled mine with rice because those sold in stores have a terrible smell and I am very sensible to smells.

@rakski I always have good cheeses and ham at home. Eggs too. They are good sources of protein.

When will it start to get warm again? It is very warm here. Lots of severe weather in the south almost every day. We could use some rain up here in the NE corner of Ohio. Enjoy your day.

The cheese bread sounds good. An easy dinner is sometimes just as good. Let us know how the kubbeh turns out.
