I think their machine needs re calibrated. Before you can donate blood they have to test you and see if your blood has enough iron. I did not. Not even high enough for a regular donation, let alone a power red. They checked both hands. So I went over to town for nothing. In other medical news, I finally finished playing phone tag with the ear nose throat specialist office. The office that ordered a CT scan of my head and neck. Nothing there to be alarmed about, although they did notice that nodule in my lungs, that was discovered accidentally two or three years ago. I think I have had it rechecked once. It is apparently stable. Yay!! Also, they had Bob have extra blood tests yesterday. Apparently he is no longer anemic. That is a good thing. So that is everything you might have wanted to know about us.

I guess you need to take a vitamin with iron. I am going to give blood next week.

I'm glad for the good news. Too bad about the blood donation. Maybe you should ask your doctor about the iron thing. Maybe you need a blood test??? Enjoy your day.

That's a shame about donating blood. We used to donate regularly but when we moved it became much more difficult and now I think we are too old.

@GardenGerty I am glad that Bob is no longer anemic and too bad you could not donate blood but glad nothing to be alarmed about and glad that the nodule in your lungs is stable.

So does that mean you need to take an iron supplement, or just eat more lentils and spinach? I’m glad to hear that nodule in your lung has not grown.

Maybe if you snacked on prunes, raisins, and concord grapes for a while and went back they'd find you with enough iron.

I can't donate either because my veins are too small.

I didn't know that about the iron - I just knew if you were underweight, you couldn't donate (or at least it used to be that way). Otherwise, good news for you both
