We are Buying a Manufactured House

Yesterday, Jay announce that buying a manufactured house is a good idea. I mentioned this before and he didn't want to go that route.
Now that our summer weather is headed towards the end, my husband changed his mind about this. We are short on time, which isn't good. A pre-made home can be installed in about two-three days.
All we have to do is hire a professional to put in the foundation. Then, the home will be delivered in two sections, placed on the foundation and secured together. These men do this for a living, it's done like clock-work.
We went shopping yesterday to walk through one of these homes. It was beautiful and exactly what we are needing. The decor, I really don't mind at all.
The rooms will be filled with our own furniture, which I love. This is a positive move in the right direction, we're in total agreement about this. A positive thought to get my day going!

We were pushing for time, losing two lots to circumstance we couldn't change. The second lot was beautiful! A contractor told us to check the soil for muck. We did, it was solid muck! It would have cost $32,000 to have it removed! I wanted to cry, but didn't.

@LindaOHio Tim told us, if we built on that mucky lot, we would always have moisture problems.

Three days instead of four months to build? That's quite a switch isn't it!?

That's sound a great idea. Sometimes I suggest something which is received somewhat coolly but a few days later Vince comes up with the same idea as though he thought of it!! But it's okay. I know these houses go up really quickly. Good luck with it.

Building from the foundation would take months. Having a manufactured house put up, this won't take even a week.

@kobesbuddy So much more convenient - and you'll save on rent too.

I have been in several of these homes. They are very nice. This will save you so much time and stress! I hope it can be done fairly soon. I know you need a home as soon as possible.

Jay is out today, getting prices at various building centers. We're on our way, Marie.

I think they are nice inside. I think it is the same thing somebody who lives on this street bought a pre fab home that is very large. They delivered it in in 3 separate sections.

We don't want a big home, less than 1000 square feet.

The only thing I would ask is make sure you have a storm shelter, because manufactured homes are no match for a tornado.
Praying everything goes smoothly and quickly.

I do fear tornados
That is a very good suggestion, thank you!

We still haven't decided which way to go, it's still in the balance.

This won't be a mobile home, it's brought in as two house halves. They attached it together, over the foundation.

@kobesbuddy I think it's a good decision. It also gets you moved in sooner than if you did all the work yourself as you planned.

They are very well built and as durable as a stick built home.

I've never heard of this. Is this very expensive?

It's not more expensive than building a home.
