Is there a Doctor in the house?

Well, not in the house but in the family. Son2 passed his dissertation defense today and can now officially call himself Dr. Davis. I was there to see the public portion of his presentation. Then, all but him and his dissertation committee left the meeting room and they grilled him for a while. After the grilling, he came out while the committee discussed his standing. They didn't take long. His mentor opened the door, smiled, and congratulated him. Once all the thank yous and handshakes were completed, I took Dr. Davis, GF, and her parents (the 3 of them were there for the public portion as well) out to lunch. K couldn't be there in person, but she did watch on Zoom. Needless to say, we are very proud of Son2, PhD.

That's great news. A lot of study and work goes into gaining a PhD.

Some weeks he'd spend 14 hours a day in the lab and more than once stayed overnight. He certainly earned those letters after his name.

@JudyEv He inherited that from his mother. His love of camping and fishing he got from me. It balances out.

Thank you. He's very happy and relieved. This morning he reminded me that he's been going to school for 24 years, since he started PreK-3.

He worked hard for years. Research like his takes so much time and patience. I don't know that I could have done it.

Son1 is living out in California, still in the AF, and is now a certified test pilot doing all kinds of things he can't talk about.
