Joy Through Cake

Yesterday I discovered an important bit had fallen off my folding bicycle and a rather important bit at that as the front wheel was in danger of going its own way! I went to the shop where I got my bike and they didn’t have the bit, but they pointed me towards another bike shop in Holborn. I’d already been through Holborn looking for the outdoors shop, which had closed for rebuilding, and now had to trek back. It was in the high 70s, which is hot for me and my counter told me that I had already covered 9000 steps, so I decided to ditch my plans for the rest of the afternoon and head home, when I passed a little shop with a delightful sign saying, Joy through Cake. They were right, a very nice chocolate curly whirly cake and coffee helped improve the mood. I still headed home, but in a better humour!

Bummer about the bike, but had it not been for that, you would have missed that shop! Good thing you did not miss out on a delicious piece of cake with coffee . . . after that heading home was a breeze .

A nice piece of cake, or two, always make things better, in my opinion. I hope you can get the part for your bike soon.

There is no way you'd want your front wheel heading off for parts unknown! For some reason, the photo is a tiny icon thing and I can't seem to open it. It's happening with other photos too. So annoying - especially when it's chocolate curly whirly cake.

Yes, I've noticed the lack of photos on other posts. Have reloaded and it seems to be there now

@Ronrybs Yes, it's there now and looks very delectable. This morning I only had to refresh the discussion for the photo to come up so that was useful.

These things happen, but frustrating that I had to chase around for the bit. Reloaded the photo so you can see the delights of quality choco cake!

Sounds like you were in need of a little treat! Hope you managed to get hold of the part you needed. I had a surprise one day when the front wheel fell off my (non-folding) bike! Luckily I was at home and was just wheeling it up the garden - I had just lifted the wheel up a step and that was when it fell off. Then I found that it's quite old and needs a particular size of nut, one bike shop fished around in their back room and found some, so I bought extra just in case and now I have a spare in the bottom of my bag !

Yep, that cake and coffee went down a treat! Had to get a whole spindle and bolt, so I can be on the road again.
