Is this a miserable life?

A skyrocketing prices of basic commodities My wife had to budget well my monthly pension to cope with the high prices of our daily needs. Rice, our staple food cost so much. Veggies get a soaring cost too. Medicines are beyond the pockets of an ordinary people. Worse, no price control is being imposed by the government. Senior citizens like us get no discount. In fact, there's a price control council but has no teeth same with Senior Citizens and PWD law. The poor among us become poorer. Others say that we live in the "golden era" which means everything is high. No option but we have to live within our means.

@LindaOHio Nobody controls this? Does it has much to do with inflation?

Haha tell me about it. I am a full time student working two jobs, one regular job and one is internship, and then doing surveys and mylot to pay my rent, food and utilities. Of course my mom will pay for me if I can't, which was the original plan. But everyone here, literally everyone in college has this life. I don't know where is this going to end. I hope ur govt. stabilizes prices soon. One thing I miss about my country, India is atleast my state had affordable living expense.

India is densely populated. And I believe there are many poor people. Why do you say that your state had an affordable living expense? What state is that?

The Government bank here increased interest rates, and as a result, prices soared. I even noticed this morning in church that the size of the biscuit we take in communion is now only half the size it once was. Everywhere is the same, though. The sizes of products packages have gone down, but prices have gone up. A double whammy for us all.

Same situation here. Prices are rising high. Breads are getting smaller.

Hubby has to go back to full-time work ( been semi-retired since 2022). Until Dec 10th 2023, he requested fulltime, and thankfully, got approved. I have 2 jobs, casual positions. I love doing both.

I am worried that your Senuor Citizen Discount is not honored in your place I think. My mom is a senior citizen too and she uses her senior citizen card for discounts on food, maintenance medicines etc... I think you should report the store who doesn't honor senior citizen card because that is your right and priviledge as a senior citizen of the country.

We have several Senior Citizens organizations by area or Barangay but their officers are doing nothing.

@Nakitakona Oh thats so sad , I hope someone from your group will complain about it and so that officers of barangay would know what they lack doing for the senior group . Alot of discounts awaits you

Things are getting expensive here too. It's hard to save money for the future. Buying a home for someone has become only a dream now.

I agree that prices are climbing, sometimes it seems they go up daily. I buy very carefully, and we are frugal, but it's never been so hard before. I don't see a choice; we have to make it work somehow. Like I told my kids the other day--we have food and we can eat. It might not be a favorite, or you may not have choices, but it's food, it's good and nutritious, and we are very glad to have it. We all have to adjust, there just isn't any other way. I am sorry you are having such a hard time; I do understand it.
