How do you cook your bacon?

I was just here having another BLT for lunch. Still have a lot of tomatoes...and I cooked my bacon in the microwave. That is my favorite way to make it. I just cover it with a paper towel and walk away. Not a fan of stirring it up in the pan unless I want the drippings for something. Also, oven cooking takes awhile. I say microwave is the preferred method, at least for me. How do you cook yours?

I foil a cookie sheet (for easy clean up) and put a rack on it. I lay on the bacon and shove it in the oven. There's no need to turn it with the rack and all the drippings fall to cookie sheet.

@much2say I would be lost with my microwave. I put it into the same category as the coffeepot. One broke one time and I had to get one within a day or two.

@snowy22315 Maybe 20 minutes or so. If we have bacon, we usually have other stuff cooking too, so I need the stove space. Forgot to mention we haven't had a microwave for many years .

I haven’t cooked bacon in several years, but when I did, it was always on the stove in a pan. My dad’s wife cooks hers in the oven. I would be more likely to cook bacon in the microwave than the oven.

@snowy22315 I’ll have to try it. I like the thought of less of a mess.

@AmbiePam The plate gets alittle messy, but at least you don't have a skillet to wash.

Never in the microwave that's for sure 99.9% of the time I cook bacon I grill it...very occasionally I'll fry it.

I haven't grilled it, but I could. I think it would be good in the George Foreman grill. It would get crispy I might try that next time

@snowy22315 I think grilling is the best way to cook bacon. The US & UK actually have different cuts of bacon I've noticed that purely from this site. Bacon over here has more meat and what you call bacon over in America we call streaky bacon.

I will do that for certain things but not typically. It is boring to stand there.

@NJChicaa It is roughly one minute per slice, some needs alittle more. I haven't burned it.

Between two layers of paper towels in the microwave; but I haven't had bacon in decades except when we travel. A BLT sounds so good. Enjoy your weekend.

I don't put a layer on the bottom, but I should...would minimize the grease factor alot.

@snowy22315 Yes, it does soak up a lot of grease.

I've cooked mine in the oven for years now. It makes long, full, crispy slices, no mess, and I can rinse the cookie sheet and slap it in the dishwasher. I don't really like it in the microwave as much for some reason.

I think bacon tastes essentially the same no matter how you cook it. It might not be quite as crisp as others methods, but the taste is good.

@snowy22315 I think that is pretty much correct. I know I like it in the oven on a rack because the grease drips off well, and it ends up a bit crispy. But I don't hardly ever have bacon, only in the summers for the very occasional BLT.

Sometimes microwave, sometimes oven. I always do a full pound or pound and a half at a time. I save the drippings to add flavor to other foods.

I haven't tried that I'd be afraid the AF would be hard to clean after that.

We cook our bacon in the microwave. I remember reading some time ago that it was actually a healthier way to cook bacon.

Maybe so, at least it is not that messy, and you don't have to stand at the stove for 10 minutes stirring it and possibly getting splashed with grease in the process.

Putting it direct in the pan I hate microwave so much due to the health implications

Microwaves are perfectly safe. It isn't like they are leaking radiation or something.
