I do not remember what all I have told you about my brother's recent surgery.
He has had a lot of lower back pain, but his neurologist said his neck was in worse shape and needed surgery.
First he had to lose weight, and lower his A1c (blood sugar). He had surgery on his neck on Tuesday, August 15. He only stayed in the hospital until Friday morning. I am glad he is home because hospitals are where you get infections.
This was his fourth neck surgery. They took out all the hardware they had put in before and replaced it and fused all the way from C2 to T2. So he had 32 staples in an incision that is about 18 inches long.
He says most of the time the pain is not too bad. His wife will not let him drive. I am just glad he is doing so well. He hopes to get surgery on his lower back at a later date.
I have not seen him to visit since the end of May. I will wait a while yet, so I do not carry any germs to him.

If I'm remembering correctly, you told us he was having back pain and was going in for surgery but didn't say anything about his neck. Then you told us he'd gone in for surgery and then that he had come home again but was still in pain.
Thanks for letting us know. Keeping him in my thoughts.

So, how much movement does he have in his neck now? And I forget if this was necessitated by injury or age-related.

It's good news that he's not in too much pain and recovering. Wow I can't believe your brother has had 4 neck surgeries. I feel so bad for him and I'm sure that neck pain is no joke. I'm sure he'll be happy to see you when you get to visit but I wouldn't want to bring any germs to him either.

I am sorry to know about the troubles being faced by your brother, I hope he can soon be treated for lower back problem and have a normal life without any pain
