Game Show Hosts (Your Favorite & Least Favorite)

Having just read that Bob Barker died (Rest in peace, Sir), and with Pat Sajak, of Wheel of Fortune retiring, I was thinking about the greatest game show hosts. Bob Barker was perfect on The Price is Right, and I loved Peter Tomarken, the host of the original version of Press Your Luck. Currently, the only game show I watch is 25 Words or Less, hosted by Meredith Vieira. She’s very good, but I wouldn’t say she was close to my favorite. A heck of a lot of people would say the late Alex Trebek. On the flip side, who was the worst? I might go with Alec Baldwin, who recently did a game show on ABC. I think it was Match Game. So, what is your opinion? And, in honor of Bob Barker, “Have your pets spayed or neutered.”

I remember watching some game shows when I still lived with mom and dad but didn't pay much attention to them. I was usually reading a book. I've seen a few clips of different game shows on YT when someone directs me to them but I couldn't tell you who hosted the shows.

I can usually picture a face, but rarely the name. I had to look up Peter Tomarken’s last name.

@DaddyEvil I used to watch Family Feud when Ray Combs (the short, blonde guy) hosted, and I think I only remember his name because he ended up killing himself. Richard Dawson creeped everyone out by kissing all the women.

@AmbiePam I know who Richard Dawson was but don't remember why I recognize his name. But I've never heard of Combs.

I have a nice list with Bob Barker, Alex Trebec, Gene Rayburn, Richard Dawson, and Alan Ludden but now none of them are alive but I watch the old game shows from time to time on YouTube,

Ludden was such a fine mine, wasn’t he? Such a gentleman. And Gene Rayburn was a hoot!

I loved Bob Barker and the Price is Right. I watched it regularly as a youth. Another game show host that I remember and liked was Richard Dawson when he hosted Family Feud. Do you remember that?

I did not know that Bob Barker had passed, may he RIP. Alex Trebek was my all time favorite, he pressed on when many would have given way to their sickbed, but for the sake of his contract, his good reputation and his fans, he continued almost until the very end. Not alot of people like him left in our world today.

I watch a lot of game shows lol, but the ones you have mentioned are greats (minus the Baldwin of course). My favorite would have to be Jane Lynch on the newer version of Weakest Link.

I just saw that about BB. He was an institution like the late Alex Trebek. I never thought about my favorite game show host, not really a fan of them. I do like Anthony Anderson on To Tell the Truth though. Not really thrilled with him as a person, but I think he does make a good host. I will tell you my least favorite...Steve Harvey. That guy gets on my nerves.

The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune are popular shows in Asia. I like Pat Sajak with his winning smile. I heard him make self-deprecating jokes about his height and age.

I watched the price is right for years. My great grandmother watched the price is right. Bob barker was a good hosts. Seems like all tv personalities get involved in one scandal or another. Wasn't he accused of harassing one of the models?!? My favorite host is Steve harvey on family feud!! Also liked the original, richard.

I'm on a Game Show Network kick and watch it for hours each day. I think John Michael Higgins is my favorite host. He does America Says and Split Second. Enjoy your Sunday.

I think the late Alex Trebek was one of the smoothest game show hosts on TV. Great game concept and the perfect understated person to host it. Peter Marshall was also great on hosting Hollywood Squares. Playing straight man to all those celebrity jokesters toward some skill. In contrast Richard Dawson with Family Feud was not my style. To over the top and corny for my taste. Also, liked the Price is Right with Barker (RIP) and Gene Rayburn, Let's Make a Deal.

My Mother always watched the price is right. I do when I think about it. Just not everyday. Bob Barker was the best host on a show on TV.

I’ve watched very few game shows so I’m not a good judge of who is best or worst. Was there a show called, Queen for a Day. That kind of rings a bell.
