Trump shoots himself in the foot on Meet the Press.

Just wow. One of Trump's main defenses against crimes committed while trying to overturn the 2020 election would have been that he was following the advice of his lawyers. But in an interview on national TV yesterday, he conceded that he was following his "intuition," against the advice of his lawyers, when he acted. Do you think his current lawyers will allow him to testify on his own behalf in the various trials that are coming up? I think not. (Poof. I disappeared.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZdaUfhnmFc

Reminds me of a line in an episode of the 80s cable series Brothers: “You just confessed to a crime in public. So, in legal terms, you’re screwed.”

@much2say I read Michael Cohen's first book about Trump. He actually said that prison for rich white collar criminals is not that bad.

@wolfgirl569 They will hog tie him and strap him to a fence. And feed him cheeseburgers and diet soda.

I don't think his lawyers would let him.

It would be professional malpractice to allow him to testify at any of the trials. At this point I'm surprised they haven't hog-tied him and locked him in a closet at Mar-a-Lago. He just keeps digging himself further. He's practically doing Jack Smith's job for him.

I wonder if his current lawyers are getting paid on a timely basis. They must be putting their heads in their hands and shaking said heads in disbelief.

@NJChicaa Heh. Did he quit? Or was he fired? Or does it depend on who you ask?

@TheHorse one guy in like the Mar-a-Lago case wouldn't even take the case without like $2 or $3 million paid in advance. he lasted like a month.

I wonder how many still support him at this point. Even people with their head in the sand have to come up for air now and then.

@LindaOHio If he can run from jail or prison, and gets 40 per cent of the popular vote, I'm OK with it. But it still says something scary about the vulnerability of the American people.

He doesn't take their advice. Wouldn't be in the trouble he is in now if he did. He'll do as he pleases.

They will surely try not to let him testify... but if he has in mind to testify I wonder if they will stop him.

@TheHorse - All his previous lawyers were incriminated and some went to jail. It's dangerous to be his lawyers.

He'd probably implicate them as well as himself.

Whatever he did he is an idiot and when I looked at the news online there is nothing to say he is in the hospital, Is ti possible to shoot oneself in the foot and not need hospitalization? Sounds like an episode of ER,

He plays those lawyers like a fiddle. Hires them, doesn't follow what they advise, then he dumps them and never pays them. It's comical. Why would anyone even agree to represent him? But then again, why would anyone follow him, want him to be our leader, admire him for anything, respect him, or elect him? I don't know the answers to any of those questions. What a mess.

Hasn't he paid some of his lawyers part of what he owes them?

@TheHorse It is my understanding that what legal fees he has paid, have been paid by America PAC, and they are broke. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2023/08/31/trump-lawyers-save-america-indictments/70648789007/

How are Trump's legal bills being paid? Most of the money that has gone to legal fees came from cash that Save America stockpiled between 2020 and 2022. But Save America is also receiving 10 percent of every dollar currently being donated to Mr. Trump.Aug 17, 2023

And yet he won almost half of the popular vote...twice...and was even "president" for four years.
