I remember a couple of years ago I was awake around 2am, and hadn't been able to sleep in three days. I turned the TV channel to one that was airing reruns of a CBS sitcom from the early 2000s. After watching a few minutes, I started laughing so hard! I wondered how I missed this funny show when it originally aired. Determined to catch up on it, I went through and set my DVR to record every upcoming rerun. Shortly thereafter, I finally fell asleep.
The next morning, after getting around, I turned on an episode for awhile as I sat and ate breakfast. And sat, waiting to laugh. To put it mildly, no mirth burst forth.
It was terribly unfunny! I could not believe the lack of sleep had made me so goofy I was laughing at basically anything!
Have any of you ever experienced that! (I'm not going to say the show because I don't want to give that show any interest.)

I agree, Fiacre. There are very few (any?) sit coms that I think are funny.

Lack of sleep can have devastating consequences.
I am sure many of us have experienced this at one time in life.
For me, it is happening on a constant basis as ever since I was in my twenties, I have not slept a wink really to put it mildly. No peace, no rest.
Perhaps that is why I am bonkers and do laugh at things that are not funny and also interact with those who are not funny too.

I can't say that I have, usually I either like a show or I don't. Sometimes they can kind of grow on you though.

@AmbiePam I have only watched an episode or two of that. Sometime I will watch the series. I also never watched How I Met Your Mother. One thing I fell in love with on NF because I didn't watch it on cable was Breaking Bad. Seriously, awesome series.

The only time I really lost it was when I worked at Morton Salt. In the winter time we worked 12 hour days. One evening I was so tired I started laughing at the stupidest thing. I won't even mention what it was because it was so stupid. I couldn't stop laughing. Have a good day.

Yes at times this happens.
I used to enjoy a TV program during my childhood.
However once I saw it again on YT or somewhere, I did not feel it to be do enjoyable.
Times of sleep or stress can make us behave otherwise.

Never been through what you have. My sleeplessness would just be just that - sleeplessness with tossing and turning

Yes. I am not a fan of sophomoric humor. One day, I was sick - too sick to leave the bed. Those are (or were back before I switched to streaming) the days I search for movies OnDemand. That day, I was hard pressed to find anything worthwhile, so I chose Tammy, starring Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon. I don't think I laughed that hard in years.

There is a fine line at times of humor can jump to cruelty, making fun of others, being hateful. Pulling one little joke on someone can be funny. Endless jokes on the same person can easily turn into torture for that person. I am sure you know what I mean.
And yes, I do know that I can easily be overly sensitive. I hate it when people are hurt and others don't really care.

That was the reason for shows being taped with laugh tracks. The laugh track was meant to get people to laugh even though the show was not too funny. What sitcom was it? Personally I think that the best sticoms were during the 60, 70s, and 80s

It really is funny how lack of sleep can make something seem funny.
