We're home from the Blackwood Marathon / myLot

We’ve been away for the weekend and without internet. We attended the Blackwood Rotary Marathon which is held each year in the south-west of Western Australia. There are five elements to the marathon – running, canoeing, swimming, horse-riding and cycling. Some athletes make up teams while the iron men and women attempt all five sections on their own. We took photos of the horse-riders and I’ve added a collage of some of the riders for you to see. The country is very hilly and was very testing for the horses and riders. The bike-riders also had their work cut out to complete their section. Luckily, the weather was fine and not as hot as it might have been. Now we’re home again and the photos are all up on our website. We’ve already sold some and hope to sell more in the coming days.

Sounds like a fun weekend. I think we have another glitch because all of a sudden pics are blank for me. I thought it was one I was trying to load but I see blanks on other's posts as well. Boo!

It was a great day to be out in the sunshine taking photos. Not quite as good as taking part but nearly so.

And we didn't get as tired, hot and sweaty as the riders.

I liked being around the horses when we went on trail rides even if I didn't particularly like their owners.

It's mostly luck to get it mid-stride. And I have a 'multiple frame' button which lets me take several shots in quick succession.

I like how you captured the movement in the upper left photo. Of course the other three also show movement but not as intense.

I was able to get shots of a lot of the horses in that position. There were trees on the left and right but if I timed it right, I could snap them with just the sky behind them.
