An 11 Minute Wait

I had to call Ally since they did some enhancements and now, I am having trouble logging in to my account. They want to send a code to my phone, which normally would not be a problem. However, as you may know, I left my job on July 18th and had my company phone back then which I turned in when I resigned and now have a new one. My account is tied to my old phone. So, now I have to call them. On hold, they told me there would be about an 11-minute wait. Two minutes later they said it would be about an 11-minute wait. 6 minutes later I was again informed it would be about an 11-minute wait. And 12 minutes in I was told it would be an 11-minute wait. Right now, I am looking for the Skipper to ask him about that three-hour tour we're supposed to embark on later.

Hmm and what can you do but wait and wait..you see this is why I don't bother with online only places that want my money.

I've waited much longer in brick and mortar banks to meet with an employee to resolve an issue, so it's not just unique to online businesses. Customer service is non-existent these days, no matter whether it is online or at a physical location.

Agree with Jeff. No difference. Customer service is customer service, and I would have to say in SOME ways I have to look at this way. With Ally I was still able to call them on a Sunday morning to resolve my issue. If this had been my bricks and mortar bank I would have had to wait until Monday to do anything since the bank is closed on Sunday.

@moffittjc Yep. And like I just responded to Rebecca, my bricks and mortar bank is closed today which means I'd have had to wait until Monday after 9am to resolve the issue. I called Ally on a Sunday morning at 730am CST and got it done.

@porwest - I am glad it's fixed, I am always nervous when I cannot arrive to talk to a human and solve problems immediately.

@LadyDuck That's part of my reluctance to EVER having to call customer service. I always know it's going to be a frustrating nightmare.

I did finally get a person and got the situation resolved. Seems I DID actually change my phone number on the site but for some reason the system did not reset it. But it's reset now and all is good.

Crazy, I hate being on hold. I must not keep up very well here. I did not know about you leaving your job. I am off to get some back story time in.

Being on hold is a nightmare. ESPECIALLY when some voice chimes in telling me how important my call is to them. Uh-huh. Who you trying to convince? lol

That sucks. And Ally has always been so reliable and easy to deal with. How long did you end up waiting, and were you able to get the problem resolved?

@porwest That’s awesome, and especially considering it was on a Sunday.

It actually only wound up being about 20 or so, and the woman who took my call was extremely pleasant, extremely attentive and extremely helpful. I was a bit taken aback by it honestly. lol

@LindaOHio I am sure 50 years ago they were HAPPY to have any customers they could get.

All of them do. It just boggles the mind how important companies tout customer service to be, but how few of them actually show that.
