Caught in the act

Today I was working (at home) when I heard someone struggling to push something through the letter-box.
After this went on for a few seconds I ran to the door and yanked it open – and in came (almost fell) the lady delivering the parish newsletter, with her fingers still in the letterbox. Literally caught in the act, with a strangely half-surprised/ half-guilty kind of expression on her face.
How we laughed!
It was lucky she didn’t fall face first onto the doormat!
Still chuckling about it : )

What a beautiful day, misses. For shoving a cucumber through the letterbox and shouting, “THE MARTIANS HAVE LANDED!”

@Fleura Not my words but those of the late, great Ken Dodd. Have you never been tickled?

I wonder who was most surprised. When I was younger, it seemed a very strange thing to me that letters were poked through front doors. Suburban houses in Australia were all built back off the street with at least a small front garden and a letter-box on the fence.

I have a gate that I keep closed after I was robbed of my jewelry and no one can enter my house and my dog is there to drive away strangers.
