Apparently @porwest and I had the same idea for posts about obscure songs that we like. Paula Cole, born 4/5/68, is an American singer-songwriter and producer. "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?", released in 1997, was nominated for 3 Grammys. It reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was written and produced by Cole. Cole got her first big break when Peter Gabriel sought her out to replace Sinead O'Connor who left his 1993-1994 Secret World Tour. The song is about a tragic romance. It follows the infatuation, disillusionment and despair of a doomed relationship. The singer's dream of a Western-style hero is dashed. Sorry to inform you that I have heard of Paula Cole or the song she sang even though I do remember a song title called "Mama Do Not Let Your Kids Grow Up To Be Cowboys" or something like that.

@LindaOHio I am sure I have heard that one too. It's always possible I just don't recognize a name but if I hear the song, I go, okay, yeah. But the one in this post is definitely a new one for me.

I like it, and definitely never heard this one before. Big fan of Peter Gabriel and I don't think I have ever heard of Paula Cole either. Either way. Nice. Looking forward to the next installment.

Glad you liked it. Being nominated for 3 Grammys, I'm surprised more people hadn't heard of it.
