What does winter necessitate to you?

I got the chance to get a humidifier for no cost, and I took it. I can use nasal spray, and do everything I know to do, but somehow winter always brings me some nose bleeds due to the dry air. I also end up trying every moisturizing lotion around this time of year, which is always fun. What does winter mean you are bringing out? The electric blanket, the fluffy sleepers, or maybe a Snuggie? My late grandmother bought me one of those once, and they sure did work well!

I bought Snuggies for Pretty and I when we were still at the other house. Mine never got much use because I was always too hot. I unpacked mine a couple of weeks ago but I still get too hot. *shrug* I'll probably pack it away again until Pretty wears hers out and give her mine.

When I had that Snuggie I didn’t turn my heat on until it got down to seven degrees. By then, I was afraid my pipes would freeze if I didn’t turn it on. And sure, that Snuggie keeps you toasty, but it does nothing to keep your nose from looking like Rudolph!

@AmbiePam Pretty gets cold a lot easier than I do/did. When the house get down to 70F, she thinks she's freezing. I'm still sleeping under a single sheet on my bed at that temp. It's either turn on the central heat or she'll be dragging an electric heater from room to room and we definitely can't afford that. When I had a job, I just laughed when she was dragging a heater around with her... can't do that anymore. It's cheaper to run the central heat than pay the electric bill from electric heaters.

Long sleeve jammies are out, the electric blanket is on the bed and used, it for nothing else to warm up the bed before getting into it!! I too, have bad nose bleeds during the winter with the heat on. If the pre-winter is any indication, it's going to be a rough winter here. Oh, and I've been thinking about a Snuggie!!!

You won’t be sorry if you get a Snuggie. I saved a lot on my electric bill with that thing!

I used to have a snuggle sack too. Not sure what happened to it. I got it from granny too. It may be in a storage locker which is jam packed with stuff.

For me it means my down filled parka coat, wool scarf, leather gloves, leather boots and that is only for when I go outside. I have a few different winter coats, depending on what I am doing and how cold it is out. I don't like to wear anything for really cold rated if I am just going shopping, I have gotten hot in stores and that uncomfortable. In the house I rely on slippers and sometimes a throw or a sweater if I get cool while watching television.

My long housecoat goes over my clothes that definitely means it’s gotten chilly if I’m walking around with that on.

Scored a free humidifier? That's a winter win! Dry air can be a real nose nemesis/ Nasal spray, moisturizing lotions – you've got the whole arsenal! How many lotion bottles you can finish in winter season?

@AmbiePam Wow.. Do you think 2 bottles of 200g lotion enough for me when visiting the alps for a week?

Winter means I wear socks around the house, when I use the oven or toaster oven, I leave the oven door open when it's finished baking, and even though I like to keep the front and back doors open for the sunlight, if it's very cold, I keep them closed.

We don't get winter except for maybe about three weeks a year. It's still getting at least 65 during the day

In cold weather, my legs suffer--neuropathy in advanced stage my legs aren't really warm in the summer, either. So when really cold weather hits, I often wear a heavy sweater in the house over whatever long sleeved top I have on, and I wear leggings under my jeans. I have heavy warm socks and some great Minnetonka lined moccasins that are very warm. If I go out and it's bitter cold, I have two pairs of LLBean jeans that are lined with heavy flannel, they truly are so nice and warm. Yes, electric heaters work but they will really run up the bill!

I don’t know how they work exactly, but I got my dad some heated socks that rechargeable. He has problems with circulation, so I thought they might help. You could probably use a pair.

@AmbiePam I've thought about them. I use my electric blanket and my electric throw I keep folded on the end of the sofa in the winter..so cozy!

@AmbiePam I saw heated socks that can be recharged on a YouTube video by this couple who do videos on saving money and they said the socks keep one warm and one saved money on heat

I have the humidifier ready. I need to remember to use lotion on my hands as they really get dry in winter. I usually buy a new pair of slippers every winter. Walgreens should have their slippers out soon.

Winter means for me covered clothes, quilt, toe socks along with my home slippers. I do use the oily body lotion and face cream.

We don't do anything special for winter other than turning the heat on. I still wear my flip-flops and the same clothes. I get too hot in sweaters and such. Have a good week.

I think I have one sweater in my entire wardrobe. I just get hot so easily I know I’m best with short sleeves year round.

I am always so cold that my snuggie didn't work for me I usually bring out the extra sweatshirts and wear two when it gets really cold and then I put on a huge cardigan that we wore in the 1980s over that. I put several blankets over my legs and socks and since I finally found slippers I like i wear those and my feet aren't as cold as the rest of my body. I put four blankets on my bed when I sleep. I put the heat on 71 a few days ago when I need it badly I will put up the heat to 72 but no higher than that!
