Frugal Eats: Dinner for 2 for under $5.

So I haven't been able to eat a whole lot. First it was a stomach thing but the last few days it's been a mouth/throat thing. So when we got done feeding/watering and letting Rebel in the house for the night, I told Chris I wanted to go to Walmart to grab some Hormel Complete Microwave Meals, because I needed something soft enough that it wouldn't tear up my mouth even more than it already was. So we each picked out two, but only each ate one (at least so far) for dinner about thirty minutes ago. Chris had the Roast beef, gravy and mashed potato one, and I had the turkey, gravy and stuffing one. They were $2.28 each, and in this great state of Florida they don't tax food so we paid $4.56 for dinner. Not too bad if you ask me. I didn't take a picture of dinner, which I usually do, so enjoy this picture found on google of Hormel Completes. That's what was for dinner here tonight. What was on the table or tv trays or whatever surface you eat off of tonight?

We'll be having pork chops tonight with vegetables. That was a good price for two meals.

@thislittlepennyearns We cook them in the oven on a rack which has a small amount of water in it so they sort of steam as well.

I'm sorry you have not been well. Tonight's supper was simple but tasty: white potato, simmered in garlic powder and buillion. Canned black beans, green chard. Dessert: a couple spoons of strawberry yogurt, sprinkle of pecan bits and two dates. Later we had a mini Fat Boy ice cream sandwich.

That sounds good. I can't do pecans- they hurt my mouth too much. What is Fat Boy ice cream? I dont think I have ever heard of that brand.

I won't note any complaints about your dinner choices. I hope you get to feeling better soon and are able to get your problem taken care of sooner rather than later.

Those can sometimes be a nice dinner, especially if you want something quick, and not too big of a meal. I like the chicken and mashed potato one.
