The one thing about meeting so many people online is that just like in the "real world," they also often leave us. And just like in the real world, you do sometimes still lose touch even if many of the people we meet are merely a click away.
One such friend, who I met back in the days of Bubblews, with whom we found a strong connection because she was a horror writer and I was also, as well as a former horror magazine and book editor, was R.K. Finnell, affectionately known as Roxan.
I had checked in on her a few times before. But never found what I was looking for. Until today, when I learned she passed away in March of 2022 after a short illness. I wish I had known sooner, or maybe even had the chance to chat with her one more time.
I was happy that I got to interview her in 2018 shortly after her short story collection, Grue Tales, was published, writing as Ivan S. Graves, and even wrote the foreword to her book.
Rest in peace Roxan. You are missed.

Sorry to hear this. Our online friends impact our lives sometimes as much as our real life friends.

@porwest Yes, I talk to people here 100x more often than I talk to my real friends.

Yes. They do. Some of us have been talking to each other for many, many years, not just on this platform, but from many others before it.
For example, DaddyEvil and I first met probably more than 20 years ago on WebAnswers.
You really get to know people.

Was she also on myLot? I do not remember interacting with her. May her soul rest in peace.

Sorry to hear your friend passed away. But cool that your had similar interests and were connected. I wonder about several that I knew first on bubbles and then here. One such person was still touching base a year ago but hadn't been around since. And I miss her.

I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to chat with her one more time.

Yeah. Although it's redundant, since I mentioned it in the post, but she posted a lot of shorter horror stories there. It was fun to read.
I liked her books. But they were quite "off the beaten path," and my only critique to her when I'd put on my editor's hat was that she spent a little more time on dialogue than descriptive passages.
At the same time, I acknowledged that was her style.
