Have you ever heard of that saying? It means if you buy a cheap but inferior product it may need replacing faster than buying a more expensive but better product. I bought a £10 aftershave (cologne) as an impulse buy at a discount store VERY near my work. That place tempts me with its cheap prices and I buy lots of things there...I'm on a motorbike so I shop daily as it's got to fit in my backpack Never again will I buy aftershave there...it is a brand name but it smells nasty Now the choice is smell bad at work or bin it

I haven't heard this saying before but it makes sense The quality is much more important.

I bet that aftershave you bought is fake, due to much cheaper price, the branded goods are most likely fake.I agreed superior goods can work much longer than inferior and cheaper one.I prefer the former despite higher cost.

No, it isn't fake it just doesn't smell that good This discount store is a very big name in the UK they don't sell fakes. They sell very world wide premium brands at cheap prices.

@jefferson126 I've often wondered. Here's a link. I bought from B&M a very reputable discount chain...it's exactly 2 minutes walk from my work so I go there very often.

If there is no sample of the product, how can we know what it smells like?

David Beckham is a brand and it was sold around £10 and I thought it would be awful but it was really decent. So I tried another brand...and it was bad smelling in my opinion. PS...smell is personal so some people may like it...it was ted baker.

There was no option to smell...it's a discount place so not like a normal shop. I knew the brand and thought it'd be ok but it is not nice.

Have you used much of it? Use it as a Secret Santa gift.

Ugh. Is there anyone you know who might like it that you can give it to . . . at least it won't go to waste being thrown out. I was given some nice fragrances from my boss' wife - well maybe it's nice to her and others as they were always well known brands, but they were just gross to me. I passed them along to a friend who gladly added them to her perfume collection.

Oh no Mike sorry about that. My son always spends more money for whatever he is getting to get the best quality..I'll give him that.

We have a very similar saying in Italian (chi più spende, meno spende) that means "those who spend more, spend less". I agree, buying cheap is most of the time a bad idea.

I have heard that, and 90% of the time I think it's wrong. Just been my experience. I mean, take washers and dryers. I buy used ones for a couple hundred bucks and the washer is going on 10 years and the dryer went for 5. I did have to replace it between the washer. But 10 years for under $1,000? I can't get a good new one for that. I never pay more than $20 for a pair of shoes and they last me on average about 3 years. I have bought cheap coffee pots forever and I swear you can't break them.
