I just got off the phone with a case worker, and we're getting George moved to a long-term care hospital. They acknowledge that he's not improving, and their goal is to focus on getting him stronger so he can go to rehab. I know I was going to go with Brooks, but I won't go to a place that is preventing me from seeing and being with him. I can comply with no food or drink where he can get his hands on it (the stroke makes him impulsive), but I will not tolerate being treated like the enemy. I've learned that going in guns blazing won't always work in my favor, but hopefully now he'll actually get better not worse.

That is awesome news, I wish you both all the best and send many blessings. Keeping George in my prayers, How will this work out with you, home, and Chilly? I care and worry about you so I am asking,

I'll feed Chilly in the morning and give him fresh water tonight. Then I'll figure it out from there.

This is so great! The current environment has been more than stressful - I hope they can transfer him asap so he can move forward with his recovery.

Oh, wonderful, Kayla! This is great news that you will be able to see him again. Once he gets his therapies at a place he can also see you when you visit, surely he’ll get better.

That's the idea. He freaked out, convinced he'd never see me again, when I was escorted out Sunday Night. Imagine what would happen if he didn't see me again until he was being discharged home.

Well, he's been ebbing and flowing like a river. He's currently on six letters of oxygen. So, that'll be one of their goals.

@kaylachan — wow, six liters???? That’s a lot! My mom, who had emphysema, was only on two liters. Of course, if he’s been in bed a lot they’re probably trying to stave off any possibility of pneumonia. And, while you’re certainly frustrated, I can only imagine how difficult this is for him.

This place focuses getting patients better, stronger, and ready for rehab or someplace else. Home is the main goal.

In our experience (Bob and I) with some of the health issues he has had, if he felt he was being treated unfairly or inattentively, he did not get better or stronger. We had to move on, and he has done much better. He was not as sick as George is, obviously, but attitude makes a huge difference in healing. If George does not feel cared for where he is I doubt he will get better. All of this just to say that I am glad he is making the move.

I can't read George's mind, but having me taken away from him, is what sets him back health-wise. He likes knowing I'm there with him.

That is awesome news. You are right not to let them treat you like the problem..when they don't know what to do.

I am hoping he will. He's been at Halifax far too long, and his team recognize he's not going in the right direction, but is stable enough for a transfer. And, it's all scheduled. Can't wait.
