We've had a sleepover

We stayed last night with Vince’s younger brother who turned 74. We had an enjoyable night. Our niece, her husband and three of their children came for a barbecue and chat which we all enjoyed. Vince’s brother has quite a large block of land with a very well-established garden. There are a lot of both large and small shrubs providing cover for a great many birds. He has four or five birdbaths in different parts of the garden, all of which are enjoyed by the birds. This morning, we sat under the patio and watched them having their baths. However, last night, the attraction was watching a quenda fossicking around the barbecue and under the table for any leftovers. I’ll write more about the quenda or bandicoot as they are very cute little critters. The photo is of portion of his backyard. You can see how treed it is. The photo won't load at the moment.

Unfortunately I can't see the photo yet. I might figure how to fix it. I tried to resize my image for about 30k and it could work. This is how I finally uploaded my mom's painting image in Mylot.

@JudyEv Perhaps it can work if its size is no more than 30k?

I made my photo quite small but so far it still won't load. It's such a pity when this happens.

@JudyEv I have looked at several photos, they are similar but different from big rats.

They are a little bit like a big rat I guess but sufficiently different that they don't make people scared.

The photo isn't visible. Glad you enjoyed your day with Vince's brother and your nice. It might be hot in Australia and so you use the outdoor barbecue to grill I suppose.

Yes, it's summer here and many people take advantage of the warm evenings to cook outdoors.

@JudyEv In India the idea of cooking out doors has completely vanished. People mostly live in apartments and single houses like our we don't have any arrangement to cook outside. I use my gas stove and my air fryer.

Is the Picture issue cropping up again? Looks like you had a good time at the sleepover place. It is always nice to meet folks in relation and have a nice chat. This gives a change from the routine as well.

It is indeed a great garden in which to just sit and 'be'. Up the back are a lot of rose bushes and the perfume just floats on the air.

That's the one good thing about leaving our acreage. It's nice being closer to relatives and friends that we didn't see very often.

Fossicking is a new word for me. . . assume it means foraging. I kind of guessed the quenda might be a bandicoot.

I was amazing several years ago when someone else queried 'fossicking'. It's in common usage here and yes, basically it means foraging or searching. It's often used in the context of 'fossicking for gold'.

Good that you had a lovely get-together celebrating a birthday. These leave a good taste in our mouth adding to the food of course. The birds add to the allure of the occasion.
