Do You have a Secret Life?

Once, I was at a church. The pastor was giving a sermon. He said, "Every one of you has a secret life."
I looked around at the other people and started imagining what their secret life could be. They were pillars of the church and community and people admired them. What on earth could any of them be hiding? What about my friends? My family?
Do you have a secret life or know someone who does?

My secret life must be boring, because even I am not aware of it. I just got through texting one of my best friends, and she was actually talking about her secret life in her text. Her younger brother and I are the only ones who know. When she first told me her plans, I feel like my eyebrows were going to raise off my forehead.

We all have parts of ourselves that we do not share with everyone.
Some things that we tell to a friend, we might not tell to our boss, for example.
And so, we all have some part of our life that is secret, and which we do not share with all other people.

@MarieCoyle Yes, I do not push people to reveal their secrets either, and I do not like it when somebody wants me to tell some secrets about my own life too.
My brother knew some things about me, from long ago, and he would tell others, and this always annoyed me too, especially when the person told, then questioned me further about it too.

Some people have some terrible inner hurts, and they just don't want to share them. Putting a voice to the hurts makes them vulnerable, and they are afraid to re-live what happened.

Yes, we all have something we don't share with others. It might be something in our past that hurt us, or something that happened we just can't talk about. When someone says ''I can't talk about it' I never press for details. It's for that person to share or not share, when and if they feel comfortable to do so.

Maybe when I was younger but no longer! My life is very boring and mundane. I don't know of anyone else that's leading a secret life. Have a good day.

@akalinus I love our boring life...no drama. When I was younger my husband (my boyfriend then) would go out to clubs to see shows and drink. One of the things my parents would have been appalled to find out.

Ever since I heard that, I always wondered what happens behind locked doors. I discovered some amazing things in my life. I know some secrets about a friend but she has no idea that I figured it all out. It was shocking but I could be wrong..

@akalinus I was working undercover for the FBI on a narcotics sting operation. My alias was a doctor. The bad guys would never suspect a doctor as a spy. haha

@moffittjc I knew it. I was the only one to suspect that, Dr. Jeff.

@TheHorse I used to imagine that I had a ray that makes things disappear when I beam it at them. But I don't have one of those and probably none exists. I am so glad that I don't have that ability, I would not be able to continue on, knowing that I did that.

Some people act pretty underhandedly. You wonder what they are up to. You can sometimes tell by their expressions. I can tell when my friend is telling a lie. She opens and closes her eyes very slowly over and over. Another friend has a faraway look in her eyes when certain things are mentioned. Sometimes you can fill in the gaps to imagine what is really going on. Of course, they are not aware of this.

I think your pastor is right. And I agree with him. Everyone has skeletons in their closets. Everyone. And many people go to Church more to repent than to worship. Many times, very religious people have very dark lives and it's the reason they seek the occasional light.

. Only Hubby and kids know about me being here (and of course all of you) but otherwise no one in the world even suspects it
