I first need to give some background.
My grandmother had come down to our house(my mom and I lived about a block away from my grandparent's house when mom and I came back from Pocatello) early in the morning. About 5:30a. to ask us if we had heard from my uncle. He was out of town and overdue to come home. She knew something was wrong. Grandma was clairvoyant.
Later that day we found out that my Uncle Fred, Aunt Leatha, and a friend of the family had been in a fatal accident. The axle on their jeep had broken and they went into the reservoir. My uncle had died trying to help our family friend. He had difficulty due to his right side being paralyzed. My uncle was found with his arms in a circular position as if trying to pull someone.
My aunt made it out, climbed up a 100-foot embankment, and was able to catch a ride into town. She went on to have trouble with her knees for the rest of her life.
Losing our friend was horrible. My uncle's passing was the worst thing that had happened to our family to date. He was such a huge part of all our lives. He traveled a lot with his work but, when he came home it was an occasion.
