A delicious dessert

We visited friends last night as a Christmas get-together. There were six of us. We supplied the nibbles; the hosts supplied pizza and another couple brought the most delicious pavlova as dessert.
The photo shows the decorated pavlova. This was a bought one which was smothered with cream then decorated with kiwi fruit, blueberries and raspberries.
Australia and New Zealand fight over who first created the pavlova which was named after the renowned Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova. It’s basically a baked meringue with a crisp crust and a soft middle.
It was yummy and we each took a small piece home. I might have mine for breakfast.
We’re leaving at lunch time for a house-sit.
Edit: I'm sorry I forgot the photo. It's there now.

The photo is there now. I simply forgot to add it. I've getting very forgetful as I get older.

Lovely. When you say the pavlova has a soft middle, what is in the middle? Where are you house-sitting now? Do they have any animals? Have a good weekend.

Apart from the top, the whole thing is egg-whites and sugar - like a giant meringue I guess. We're on a farm in Greenhills now. We have two cats, some chooks (chickens), several cages of birds, and lots of indoor pot plants to look after. It's an easy one.

@LindaOHio The plants worry me too but I'm being careful to follow instructions. Hopefully they can live for a fortnight without their Mum being here.

@JudyEv I think I would worry more about the plants. They probably take more care!!!

I don't know why Pavlova isn't popular here. It looks like the most luscious dessert.

@JudyEv That's right. I might try making one sometime when the weather is appropriate. Those merangey type things can be tricky though. I think I would have to opt for a "simple pavolva."

I have had similar desserts. I like the combination of berries and cream.

It's one of my favourite desserts. I like the light, creamy desserts better than the 'heavy' ones.
