Meeting the girlfriend, RSV and cutting carbs

On Tuesday my stepson went to his girlfriend’s house to meet her mother. Then he texted my husband and said his girlfriend wanted to meet him to do they came up. I would have preferred prior notice to have my house clean and have makeup on and not be in the middle of making dessert. His father asked his son during dinner if he told his girlfriend how he did shooting his new flint lock rifle. Apparently he had told a little lie to the girlfriend about how good he did and she called him out on it. Good for her! Lying isn’t cool even over something little like that. Wednesday I found out that my great nephew had RSV on New Year’s Eve so we have to watch for symptoms of that. I have been nauseated badly for 4 days, had a bloody nose, a bad headache for 2 of the days, I feel my chest may be slightly congested and I’m exhausted. I don’t think it’s possible to have gotten RSV in one day though so I think I picked something else up. My husband and oldest daughter both came down with a runny nose today and my daughter’s throat is scratchy. Thursday I went with my little one and we got groceries before the big storm that’s coming up tomorrow. My husband told me he’s cutting out carbs so I told him he better plan to cook for himself as I’m not going to be able to plan meals around that. He complains no matter what I make and I cannot cater to anymore then I already have to deal with. Photo is unrelated. My husband replaced the old hallway light switch I loved. I wanted one last photo of it so I thought I’d share it here with you. It’s dirty from him handling it with dirty hands after struggling to get the other one out.

Thank you for showing me that lovely light switch. Can you keep it somewhere? I'm sorry folks are getting ill. What kind of carbs does your husband to cut out?

@shaggin Carbs does not mean just eating pasta and bread. Good carbs: beans, yams or stuff like pumpkin, whole grain bread, brown rice.

@shaggin Straight meat only? Early grave for sure. Plus he'll stink on the way there. Life is a balance.

@sallypup he told me before when I made a rice dish and a pasta dish one or potato dish one night it was carbs and carbs. He rejected the yams I made the other night because of carbs. He does like beans but I’m not sure if he is going to eat them or cut them out but he hates pumpkin.

I like those old light switch, Mom had the same. I agree that it would have been better a prior notice to be ready to receive the visit, but I have the feeling that it went well. Well done to tell to your husband to cook himself his meals. At least he can only blame himself.

@shaggin Let your husband cook his food, at least he can only blame and criticize himself. I understand that you will miss those old light plates, they are so cute.

@RebeccasFarm I’m not going to change what I make he can either eat it or find something else to make himself. So far he’s been eating the cheesy scalloped potatoes I’ve made. I don’t think his carb reduction is working much I’ve seen him eat plenty of carb things. Mostly I think he needs to stay away from junk food .

@LindaOhio I think we are all just about over our colds here thankfilly. I see cases of Covid rising in town again the ones who are getting it seem pretty sick. I’m thankful our cold was so light and we haven’t anything worse seeing as we’ve been around the Flu and RSV since Christmas.

@shaggin I'm glad you're better. There are places in the US that are overrun with COVID, flu, colds and RSV. Have a good weekend.

@dya80dya this one is probably 80 years old more. I’ve only seen them in this house and one other.

When I was a teen, our house had some of those old push button switches. I always thought they were 'neat'.

@BarbaraPrz I have only been to one place that had the push button ones. I loved the uniqueness of them now a days so was sad it was taken out and it wasn’t the problem. At least we have nice new switch’s and switch plates I guess since I want to look on the bright side.

I like it too when I am told in advance if someone wants to visit me. That switch does look good. You can use it elsewhere And about your husband wanting a carb less food cooked I suppose it will be difficult for you .

@allknowing that is the only place in the house the switch plate could be used. Most things were updated over the years a bit but not that until now .

@jstory07 something is always passing through this house. I am just getting over a cold. My little one is still nasal after two weeks but no other signs of anything.

Love those old switches, they have a lot of character, pity you could not keep it. I know two guys who do not do carbs, they are not super healthy, both have mean tempers and short fuses, plus they both drink too much. Its one thing to have special needs for a well rounded life, its quite a different thing to do a fad, and expect everybody to get on board. Stay healthy

@Traveonworld my husband has a mean temper and a short fuse as well but has nothing to do with what he eats. I think he is just trying to eat healthier which is a good thing but he’ll have to do his own cooking because I have enough to try to make meals that everyone can eat. We all eat very differently.
