The dog ate my money

We’ve all heard the phrase “the dog ate my homework.” Well, there may be a new phrase out there and it’s “the dog ate my money.”
A couple withdrew around $4000 in cash from the bank and put it on the counter and the dog ate it. How crazy is that?
The dog threw up some of it the next day. For the rest of the money the couple had to collect the poop and then fish out the money and clean it. The bills that were ripped, they taped the torn pieces together and took to the bank. The bank replaced the bills that still had the serial numbers on them.
I wonder what possessed the dog to eat the money? Did it smell appetizing? I’m surprised the dog didn’t choke on it.

I heard about this. I wouldn't have left the money on the counter. Have a good weekend.

This is a story that is both horrifying and funny. That's a lot of money to simply vanish like that even if they were able to recover some. But that IS an interesting question. What about the money appealed to the dog that he decided to eat it?

I think $3500 the bank replaced. Not sure what happened to the rest.

Sounds like they need to feed their dog a bit more.
Ugh! I'd hate to have to handle what was left of the bills.

Wow! That’s crazy! Wonder what makes dogs eat things that are not food.

@lovebuglena This behaviour is called Pica syndrome and it may be caused by anxiety or stress. Dogs do this trying to get attention. They are bored, they lack of stimulation or exercise. Too many want a dog and then they do not are of their dog.

@LadyDuck Having a dog is like having a child. I guess some people don't realize that. At least not until they actually get a dog.

I wonder if perhaps it was next to some food.

I didn't think a dog could eat something like that. However, I shouldn't be surprised. Animals have been known to eat the strangest of things. Socks are the most common things that vets take out of dogs. I guess it's possible, the dog thought the money was a chew toy and just ate it. I feel bad for the couple who had to clean out that mess.

But a wad of money is big. Wouldn’t a dog choke on it?

@lovebuglena You would think so, but no. Dog teeth are pretty sharp and Money is pretty pliable. So, a dog could tear through it easily.
