I decided not to buy water in plastic bottles. Back to my childhood.

Today I saw in the news that scientists had discovered that the water and sodas that came in plastic bottle contained tiny particles of plastics that were harmful to health. I had already decided not to buy any drink in aluminum containers as it takes a long time to be converted into something useful for the planet. So now I will be back to where I started. When I was a child my mom gave us plain water from the tap and on occations she added a bit of red wine to it. I´ll boil the water because now they add too much chlorine. I have a gadget to filter first the water and then I boil it. I could drink the boiled water if I cool it in the fridge and add a bit of wine to it for a better taste. Coming to think about it I never had a CocaCola until I was 11 and went to the US.

I still buy sparkling water in GLASS bottles. They deliver the bottles every week, bring back the empties. I wonder why this is not done for more products. I cannot remember when I had my first Coca Cola, but I remember that I tried and I thought it has a disgusting taste of medicine.

It is difficult here to buy them in glass bottles. You have to go to a place where they change your empty glass bottle for a new one. Supermarkets don´t have that service. I was a Coca Cola fan while I lived in the US when I was a child. I used it when I was a teen to make Cuba libre at partys. That was the end of my love story with it. My husband taught me about other much more delicious drinks and the plain beverage was horrid by that time.

Yes the feel of cold drinks in glass bottles is very refreshing compared to the ones nowadays in plastic bottles mostly.

I don't drink sodas anymore. We have well water, but it's hard. But I do use the tap water now in my tea kettle when I make my tea. I do drink sparkling water in plastic bottles.

We use water softener in our society itself so the water that comes through the tap in homes is a bit softened.

During my younger years, we usually boiled water from the tap to make it drinkable. Now, our drinkable water is coming from purified water stations.

The water from the tap here is supposed to be drinkable. But I don´t like the taste. So I´ll filter it and boil it.

@Shavkat I know that our water is "safe". But that is because it has lots of chlorine among other things. So I´ll filter it and then boil it. And then I´ll let it stan a bit before drinking it.

@marguicha The feeling is mutual. I am not confident to drink water from the tap.

I haven't bought bottled water in over a year. I have a Brita water pitcher that filters the water. It's good you will use tap water and boil it so it will be healthier for you to drink.

I try hard to avoid excess plastic use. I have been wondering about all the soda that is sold here in plastic bottles as well. Surely it has to have a similar effect?? I will have to look that up.

I drink tap water. I also drink coffee and tea. I wish things came packaged in glass, as it just seems cleaner.

I have a filter jug too and now I´ll boil the filtered water and cool it in the fridge. I just found out that it was better than bottled water and the savings will pay for all the money I spend in special cheeses.

Our water is safe to drink from the tap thankfully although heavens knows what is in that that may not be good for me. The water from the fridge dispenser is filtered so mostly I've been drinking that.

Our tap water is healthy but I also filter it. And the rest of the chlorine taste disappears by boiling it.

@marguicha It is very tough for the government as well to get rid of plastic as people don't want to discard it and always find ways to use it even if it gets banned. The only thing the government tries hard is to evaluate plastic quality.

@jefferson126 Yes, I will. Except if I go to Aruba. Aruba gets its water from the sea and has a desalinization plant. I´ve never had more deliicous water.
