Renovations still going on

Our renovations are still going on. We finally got the backsplash for the kitchen but the contractor is working on the walls downstairs and so is not doing the tiles. And he still has to fix the ceiling that the kitchen install people screwed up. I wonder when he will finally start working on that so we can have a fully finished kitchen.
The living room bathroom is finished it seems like. Only thing left to do is install the towel ring and the toiler paper holder and then the frame on the outside of the door. But that he will do I think after he does the entire outside wall where the bathroom is.
We are repainting the ceilings and walls on the first and second floor, as well as the hallway on the third floor. And we are replacing the moldings in those places as well. Plus, we are fixing the floors and the stairs.
We have to pick out baseboard moldings and paint colors. That is not an easy task. Not sure on the baseboard moldings. I don't even know what people do these days. I do have some paint colors in mind though, so that's a start. But I don't know how many colors to choose. Each floor should probably have a different color. But then what about the two flights of stairs? Do I match them to one of the wall colors or have them totally different?
I am no interior designer. I don't want to pick something that won't work.

I cannot wait for it to be finished. Hate living in clutter and disarray.

@LadyDuck I don't want to put stuff away into the kitchen cabinets or pantry until he is done with everything in the kitchen. And that means a very cluttered living room and dining room table with hardly any room.

I wouldn't get too wild with colors. I would choose the same color for the two flights of stairs. I hope all this is over soon! Have a good day.

Some people do a room where one wall is one shade of a color and the other three walls are a different shade of that color. I don’t want to do that.

I doubt it will be over any time soon, especially since he can’t dedicate a lot of time in a day to working on the house.

Do you meet with the renovators on a regular basis so you know what to expect and when things should be done? It'd drive me nuts if I didn't know what to expect.

I don't meet with him. The guy comes to my house on weekdays to do the work. He works alone. Sometimes he doesn't come some days. And since he can't spend a long time every day to do stuff it takes longer to get things done.

@lovebuglena ........I would question all of that. I would need to know what the plan is and when he will have it done. I'm glad you're okay with it all but I just need to be more organized. Disorganization drives me crazy.

I don’t think so. He hasn’t started painting yet. Though he did put primer on some walls already.

Remodeling/renovating takes way, way longer than anyone expects it to take. I have been there several times...and it's just a ton of work and frustration at times. The decisions alone are hard to make, because you don't want to have to look at it if it's not what you wanted or you envisioned. I hope you can get it all worked out, Lena.

The color we chose for the kitchen could’ve been different but we already had it painted and I don’t want to deal with choosing a different color and painting it again. And this color wasn’t even my choice, it was hubby’s and I went along with it. Perhaps what I wanted would’ve been a bit better. But it was on the same color palette so who knows. The color we have isn’t bad but it blends in with the pantry door.

I hope when you get it all done you can enjoy it, and not have any more big projects for awhile!

Thank you. I've been living in renovation status since some time in July. I am tired of that already.
