Does anyone watch Oscar nominated movies anymore?

I had no idea the Oscar nominations were being announced yesterday morning until I turned on the news in the early evening. The Best Picture nominees were: Barbie, The Holdovers, Anatomy of a Fall, Maestro, American Fiction, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, and The Zone of Interest. I have not seen a single one of those movies. Have you? I don’t think I watch the kind of movies that get nominated (except in the documentary category maybe). How many have you have seen just one? I am a little proud that Killers of the Flower Moon was filmed in my state, Oklahoma. That movie was a hit, but I heard it was really long.

We saw Barbie on cable TV. We were very disappointed in it. Everyone else seems to love it. Have a good day.

I heard it was kind of woke (?), and I didn’t want to see a sermon from the Hollywood world.

I haven't seen any of those either, but we rarely go to the cinema these days. I had noticed that some of them were on but didn't get there.

I haven't seen any. I wonder if Barbie is worth watching. It got a lot of press there for awhile.

You can tell me just how woke Barbie is, and how hard they are on men. It sounds like it would just annoy me. I don’t know though; maybe it isn’t as woke as they say. Fill me in if you watch it. I can’t believe Ryan Gosling got an Oscar nomination for playing Ken.

@TheHorse I didn’t figure you would like it because of that, but I also thought you might watch it just to skewer it.

@AmbiePam If it's "woke," I probably would not like it.

Nope, they are so dull these days. I loved The Big Short in the last decade but about all. Watched Nomad and fell asleep

No, I don't watch anymore. Oh, that's so nice. Indeed you should be so proud. So you go watch shooting if it's allowed? Barbie went to Oscar...The cartoon is so famous? Did they make a remake of the cartoon?

Oh, I didn’t try to go. I knew they would have so many people competing to be extras, and trying to see the stars that I wouldn’t be able to see anything. As for Barbie, they made a movie based on the Barbie doll, and her history throughout the years (they included Ken too). The guy who played Ken in the movie was nominated for an Oscar too, as well as two songs from the movie, and another actress (not the actress who played Barbie). Margot Robbie played Barbie in the movie, and she has to be one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.

@BabeSays No, I didn’t watch it. I heard some things I didn’t think I would like, but I think you might enjoy if. I’m a little jaded, unfortunately.

None of them appeal to me, except MAYBE Killers of the Flower Moon. I have a really hard time sitting still to watch movies.

I saw Oppenheimer. I am sure I will see the others when they make their way onto Netflix or some such thing.

I’ve not seen any of these. I base what I would like to see based on people that I know who recently have seen something and go from there.

@AmbiePam Will say that @snowy has a good radar on what is worth or not worth going to see. I have trusted her word in the past and not been disappointed.

I haven't seen any of those. But we just watched the best movie on Netflix. It's "The Bank of Dave." It's a true story and a really funny and inspiring movie. I thought it was just a sweet movie and was so glad to know it was true. It can also be seen on Amazon Prime Videos and I think Apple TV.

I have not watched any of them either. My daughters watched Barbie a few times and they just loved it. We are planning to watch Oppenheimer soon as it's available on OTT now. We missed the opportunity when it was released in the theatre.

I haven't heard of a few and have little interest in most of the. Might watch Oppenheimer at some point but haven't been to the cinema in years. I don't really get excited about stuff coming out any more!

I watch movies with my favourite actors in them, or Sci-Fi movies. I don't care if it's Oscar nominated or not. No, I haven't seen any of those movies either, and I don't intend to!

@AmbiePam I have not seen any of those either and have not seen them on Netflix unless they came and I did not notice. I like to watch what interests me on Netflix and if it won an Oscar that is nice too.
