Hello everyone. I have some great news! I have been quiet for the past week as Andrea and I have finally moved house! The move was exhausting but finally we have a place of our own.
Our first ever furniture is the bed. Which we ordered from Ikea and made ourselves. Now after a week we also have a table and some chairs. There is still a lot of work to be done but we are very pleased.
We are happy to be paying mortgage for something we can own rather than paying rent. Also we are really enjoying the freedom of having our own space.

@flapiz I totally agree. I almost always owned my house because my husband built houses. We went to live in them while they were still in the works and sold them when they were finished. This is the house where I have lived more because it is the last house that my husband built before dying.

@marguicha So this house you live in definitely have sentimental value. Did you enjoy moving houses or was it exhausting?
My fiance does not know much about building so this is an opportunity for him to learn. Starting with the furniture.

Congratulations! And furniture - great start. Don't rush you have oodles of time to get settled. Hope your previous landlady did not scowl too much when you her gave the keys to her empty domain

@TraveOnWorld Yeah I am actually contemplating on suing her if she takes more than what's reasonable. I am waiting till this week for her to come back with a quote.

@flapiz Ah, the old deposit scam. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to turn old ugly just to get a landlord to pay back what is not his.
Tell her you don't agree, but in order to move forward, you will assist with repairs. Since it is now your money, she must get three quotes (not from her buddies who will cut her into the deal) and you will decide from there, everything in writing of course. No need to be too civil either. HTH

Yay, congratulations! You must be so happy!
I'm sure you will find nice things for your first home.
Don't forget to look on Ebay and Preloved and Gumtree because you can find some really nice things that other people have decided they don't want any more. Also Freegle of course. I have so many lovely things for the house that I have bought cheaply or been given, everything from kitchen utensils to major furniture items.
(And the other thing I do - keep a note of what you pay for things so if/ when you decide to change, you can sell your old things and if you have kept them nice, you could get back the price you paid, or close to it!)

@JESSY3236 Well I hope he has a lovely house. It is hard to buy houses these days. Do you feel like you can live in it?

It's a hundred times better owning a house than renting. Glad you moved out and got new furnitures.

Congratulations on your new home! It's exhausting but also fun moving into a new place and being able to decorate, etc.
