I´m keeping ants away from Luna´s dish.

A few days ago I discovered that ants had found that Luna´s dish was a source of yummy things. And you know how ants are. If Luna were like most dogs and ate her dinner as soon as it is served, ants would not be there. But Luna does not like to eat in the daytime because it is too hot. Snacks she can have at any time but not dog food. I had a problem. Luna is less hungry in summer (aren´t we all?) so even if I fill her dish at night, she will not eat it all. I have tried to give her less food than in winter, but she still won´t eat it all. I´m the same so it must be genetics. I could not spray Raid in the terrace as Luna could lick her paws. So I remembered my grandma. Friends, part of my new chores is to boil a kettle of water and throw it into every hole between the terrace concrete tiles. I think that I have won this battle. I wish other battles were so easy to win.

Those stupid ants are such a hassle. They invite themselves over, talk about an unwanted guest! And then of course they bring their entire family and everyone they've ever met. I am sure Luna is very appreciative of Mama taking such good care of her!

@marguicha The seam in the concrete out in my driveway often gets little bitty weeds no matter what. I hate to spray toxic stuff out there, so once in a while I pour boiling water in the seam, and all the weeks croak. It works for a lot of things!

Ants can be such a bother. I find where they are coming from and stuff the area with cinnamon.

This is what I did also to get rid of them in the last place I lived outside by the fence.

Early Australian settlers used to stand the legs of the tables in containers of water. The ants could not get across the water so anything on the table was safe.

My mother did that to some food before we had a fridge.

If the ants come back, take an old pie pan or even an old Frisbee-type toy with a diameter greater than Luna's dish, fill it with water, and set Luna's dish in the center. We did this for our outdoor cat's food and it worked great.

Place the bowl full of food for luna Inside a larger shallow bowl full of water, the ants will die in the water before reaching the food.
