Identical twins deliver their babies just minutes apart

MyLotter and friend Trebor Ika @Treborika wrote a discussion about the difficulty of identifying identical twins. By chance, I was also writing about identical twins. Making news in Australia yesterday is the story of identical twin sisters delivering their babies within 22 minutes of each other. Two years ago, they both had daughters within six months of each other. However, this time, although their due dates were a fortnight apart, the babies arrived very close together. One of the pregnancies happened out of the blue and wasn’t planned at all. Nicole was taken to hospital with contractions but Renee stayed behind to mind their two daughters. Then her waters broke and her partner had to rush her to hospital where she gave birth in the corridor. Nicole’s son has been named Zavian and Renee’s daughter, Ruby. Identical twins share some amazing experiences sometimes, often dressing the same without intending to and experiencing phantom symptoms and emotions when one or other is upset or ill. The photo is of my siblings who are twins but not identical.

My parents wanted me to be twins. I sometimes wish I had been so there would have been someone to blame things on.

@JudyEv I had two younger sisters I was always envious of because they had a really cool brother but I didn't.

Some identical twins get up to all sorts of tricks. So were you an only child?

That is an amazing story. They do often seem to be connected. Even when separated at birth they seem to live similar lives

I've read that too. Maybe they're adopted out to different families but end up having very similar experiences and life events.

I know of 2 Australian cricketers Mark Waugh and Steve Waugh. Although they were twins there are facial differences. Mark was more stylish. Steve was very calm and composed. Their characters are also different

We have a total of 3 sets of identical twins in our family. The only set on my side that are still living are my first cousins, who are identical. I have always been able to tell them apart, but since I have known them for most of my life, that's understandable. Most people can't tell them apart even as mature adults. I also have 2 sets of twin nieces, in the same family, that are 18 months apart. Their parents had 4 babies in diapers at the same time! It was wild. Both sets are identical. They all tend to want to be their own person, they are grown now but they have different hairstyles, tastes in clothes, etc. as well as likes and dislikes. My youngest was a twin, too. I lost the twin to her earlier in the pregnancy and somehow hung on to her until her birth. My grandfather also had 2 sets of twins in his roster of siblings--there was 11. Lots of twins in our family! The picture of your sibling twins is so cute!

Twins are not always identical, my nephew also had the same face when she was little, but over time they looked different as they grew up.

Cute kids. You probably didn't watch The Patty Duke Show (1963–1966) but the whole premise was that identical twin guys married identical twin gals and each had a girl at about the same time. So, although legally they were cousins, technically they were sisters.

I've always been fascinated by twins (identical or fraternal) and had hoped that I would give birth to twins. (nope I didn't) That's really amazing that those identical twins gave birth at almost the same time. Your siblings are so cute and you can tell they are twins. You have a striking resemblance to your brother.

I had to go back and look at the photo of my brother but I can't see much likeness. It's interesting how people can see resemblances but others can't.
