Yesterday my brother called me and invited me to dine out at a very nice Chinese tomorrow evening.
Of course I said yes!
My brother is a person I just cannot understand! He lives 2 houses from mine yes I have seen him 2 or 3 times since the pandemia started.
And he has a second house in the mountains and he has invited me once in 25 years.
Still, when he invites me, I accept. It is not that I think that anything will be mended. We are too old for that and I´m past caring any longer.
But we´ll be polite and talk about the kids (and maybe their last vacations) and I like Chinese food and that Chinese restaurant is one of the best Chinese restaurants in town.
I am only pissed that my fingers tremble and my brother will say something stupid about them. That´s how he is.
But a sweet and sour pork is worth it all

He did invite me out so I imagine that he will be pleasant. I´m sorry that it cannot be more than that though.

I´m blessed for my adopted family though. Not everyone has that.

It is as my brother had forgotten all we shared when we were children. He is only a year younger than me so we were very close.

Yes, a person can pick their friends, but cannot pick their family.
I am glad he woke up enough to make an effort. I would personally feel so very blessed to have you for a sister of mine. He is the one who has missed the boat on that. But have a good dinner--bring home some extra for another meal, Chinese food is like that--good, and there is always too much of it to eat all at once!

He calls me and invites me maybe once a year. I might pick out some big dish to bring something home on a "Doggy bag". That certainly won´t be for Luna

That´s my favorite dish. Much as I´m a good cook, there are some cuisinesthatI wouldn´t even try to master. The Chinese cuisine is one of them.

My brother never comes to visit and we don't go to his home, either. He lives in a dirty environment, we don't like it. We have male friends who are very good to us, they don't live dirty either. Enjoy your dinner at the Chinese Restaurant:) xo

I will. I decided not to expect more from them a long time ago. At first it pained me but now I´m glad for the few times that they try to reach me.

I certainly will. And we will all be very polite so that will be fine too. I just wish sometimes that they were a bit as close as my adopted family.
