No wonder Tina Turner was such a dynamo. She had to let out all that energy after coming from such a boring town!
I took a detour on the way into Memphis today, down “highway number 19” to see where “people keep the city clean.”
Nutbush, Tennessee, the birthplace of Anna Mae Bullock, better known as Tina Turner. The subject of her song (later covered by Bob Seger) “Nutbush City Limits.”
Trust me, those signs are all that’s worth seeing there. A hard sneeze would spray the entire town.
But hey, that’s where a legend was born, so it was worth seeing for me!
Here’s the song “Nutbush City Limits”:

That's very interesting to me. Drive safely and have a good day. P. S. We've been to Boring, Oregon.

She was a great performer indeed. So sorry we lost her in 2023.

@LadyDuck —
After the tumultuous life she had with Ike, I can understand wanting quiet and boring.

The dot on the map is bigger, though. And 25’s not the speed limit…although at 25 MPH it only takes you four seconds to get through the town.

@FourWalls Now THAT'S a small town. Like someone said once of a small town, "If you blink you are already in the next town over." lol

I always have to laugh when I have been through a place called Two Egg, Florida. Mostly just a wide spot in the road. Too cute.

There are a lot of places like that. “Two Egg,” love it. Wonder what’s for breakfast there?

I bet they have a ''Two Egg'' special!
Their only claim to fame besides their name is that Faye Dunaway was born there.

Yep. The song is longer than it would take to walk through the town.

I didn't know that. I know of a very small town that was a just a street or two.

The sign says “25 is the speed limit,” but it’s not, it’s 45…nothing to slow down for except merging traffic from the one stop sign.

There’s a song in The Muppet Movie with a line about a town so small it says “welcome” and on the same post “come back again.”
