Which is your Favorite Pot Pie?

Banquet..it's cheap and for me, okay in a pinch. Yes, it probably has tons of trashy stuff in it, but... I know some of you don't like them, but they will do for me for now. I can't be bothered turning the oven on in here..too hot as it is with that boiling water heater on my kitchen wall. So what is your favorite flavor or brand of pot pie? Do you make your own or do you not eat them?

I like just about anything that's in pastry. I make my own mince pies occasionally. I guess they're similar. I don't think we call them 'pot pies' here.

My mom used to make mincemeat pies. But they are definitely not anything like meat pot pies except they are made in a pie crust. The church ladies back when I was a child would make the mincemeat and put it into jars to sell as a fund raiser. Then people would buy it and make their holiday pies. But I just realized where you are located, and the word mincemeat is different totally from what it is in America. I believe that mincemeat for you and for the UK and maybe all of Europe too, is what we call ground beef. Mincemeat here is roast beef with various fruits mixed in such as raisins, currants, etc. It is a fruit pie with meat in it. Very good, but not everyone has a taste for it. My mom would always add a little rum to the mincemeat before putting it into the pie crust. It bakes away IF you have enough slits in the top crust to let it steam out. One year, apparently, she did not have enough. My grandpa kept asking for more pie. He was blind and always needed help getting from one chair to another. So, when he was done eating, he had help getting to a recliner, but had difficulty walking due to the rum in the pie.

I have not eaten or made pot pie here in Germany but I have eaten it in England when we were on vacation. It was delicious.

@thelme55 it is really very simple. If you know how to make a fruit pie with top and bottom crust, you do that, and you fill it with a thick meat stew with vegetables. Then bake until the crust is browned the way you want it.

I like the beef flavour. I buy whichever brand is on sale at the time. I have no brand preference. I always like to have some in the freezer for a quick meal.

I never had a brand preference before except that I only would buy the ones with both top and bottom crusts, which left the choices to Banquet and Marie Calendar brands. Then a couple of months ago, a friend gave me two pies, one being Banquet and the other Marie Calendar, I could definitely taste a difference which made the Marie Calendar brand my favorite. But I still buy the Banquet as it is cheaper and good.

I love meat pies. I like both the chicken and beef. I have not had any other kinds so far. My favorite brand is now Marie Callendar, but I do like the Banquet brand. I grew up on these and the old tv dinners. I miss the fried chicken meals. You could buy just the chicken too. Right now I have a package of Banquet Salisbury Steaks and some beef meat pies in my freezer, as these are quick and easy for when I am tired from a busy day,
