Let’s Leap for Leap Year

Since I was born in 1957 there have been 30 leap years. I always thought of a Leap Year like hundreds of frogs leaping with numbers on them like in a marathon. Then one frog disappears and shows up again during another Leap Year.
Anyway, have you ever wondered about this happening? It means that every four years an extra day is added to the calendar, February 29 and so it becomes a Leap Day. When this happens I almost feel like this day I am living in limbo because it should be March but it isn’t yet, and next year this day won’t exist.
One of the reasons is that even though the modern calendar has 365 days the actual time it takes the Earth to orbit its star is a bit longer – 365.2421 days. These additional 24 hours were included in the calendar to make sure that it stayed in line with the movements of the Earth around the sun.

@LadyDuck just think if we had been born on February 29 we would only be in our 30s

It’s hard to believe that we are entering March. The year is flying by.

Interesting how it has all been set up to match with the Earth's orbit.

Only thing I like for leap year, a extra day to make money to pay my bills. I wish world was more positive but we live in reality, but no one who is in a good place needs to stop their fun. Leap for your leap year. A extra day to live.

Leap years are fascinating as they add an extra day, February 29, to the calendar every four years to account for the Earth's orbit around the sun taking approximately 365.2421 days. This adjustment ensures that our calendar stays aligned with the Earth's movements. So, the concept of Leap Years helps synchronize our human-made calendar with the astronomical reality of our planet's journey around the sun.

Cute frog!
As I was born in February 1951 there have been 32 leap years since I was born.
Incredible how much the ancients know without having Artificial Intelligence!
